Proposal for MCH on Job Training Program (TRUE Copy) Introduction Maternal and Child Health Care on-Job Training Program is a course that is designed to provide staff nurses an updated theoretical knowledge and an opportunity to enhance their skills through evidence-based practice in order to deliver the safest and highest quality of health care especially in the primary and secondary health care institutions. Description The course will provide the staffs interactive lecture discussions and demonstration of appropriate skills and procedures for obstetrical and gynaecological health promotion with more evidence-based approach. In this process, the staff nurse will practice critical-thinking and practice the skills as they undergo theoretical and clinical rotations. The staff nurses are expected to demonstrate a high level of competency and continuously adhere to existing ideal international standards in the field of nursing with due respect to the existing Ministry of Health policies. Course objectives The objectives of the Maternal and Child Health On-Job Training are the following to: 1. Strengthen the knowledge, skills and attitude in an adult learning environment and increase the capacity of the staff nurses to educate and empower those who are in the community. 2. Train the staff nurses on how to use facilities available in the hospital when responding to life-threatening obstetric emergencies 3. Identify medical, surgical and psychological problems, occurring during pregnancy and puerperal period, and their corresponding evidence-based nursing care management. 4. Consolidate knowledge gained in the course with fulltime experience in the actual set-up. 5. Enable the staff nurses to perform case presentation as part of mentoring process. 6. Create a professional portfolio which will highlight the staff’s significant accomplishments at the commencement of the course. 7. Introduction

Course Requirements

The coordinators will assume the overall responsibility for supervision of staff nurses who are participants in the course.
