Responsible Adult Course

This 20 hour course was developed by West Coast Child Care Resource Centre. It is delivered in a unique way by the Mission

CCRR- 6 hours of classroom instruction along with 14 hours of at home study. This

program works well for individuals who have a limited amount of time and are

able to work independently.

Content: Good Health in Child Care Settings Children’s Nutrition and Safety in

Child Care Settings Child Growth & Development Guiding and Caring for Young

Children Parent-Caregiver Relationships Learning Through Play Basic Programming with Health

Morning workshop: Landscapes for play. Tools for promoting nature-based risky play .

The childhood of today looks very different than it did, even a few years ago, with more time spent indoors, supervised, in structured activities and in front of screens, with little allowance for outdoor playtime and risk taking. This interactive presentation will explore the pressures limiting children and examine the influence on children’s health and development. learn to focus, take turns, control their bodies, count and so more! Incorporating

music into your circle time or daily routines is not that difficult! You don’t

have to be a great singer or an instrument player. You can have fun along with your

Winter Craft and RecipeTissue Paper PenguinMaterials:White Cardstock or Heavyweight PaperBlack Tissue PaperYellow Tissue PaperCotton Balls or White Tissue PaperGluePaper PlateScissorsRed pipe cleaner and red pom pomsInstructionsCut out the Penguin pattern.Squeeze glue onto paper plate.Take cotton ball and pull a little to flatten. Dip in glue and put on middle of pattern.Dip cotton ball or white tissue paper into glue and place on penguin eyes.Cut yellow tissue paper into pieces approximately 1 1/2" to 2" square. Crumple pieces into a ball and dip in glue. Place on Penguin beak.Repeat the process with the black tissue paper and fill in the rest of the Penguin.Bend red pipe cleaner and cut to size for the ear muff holder. Glue ends to Penguin.Glue Red Pom Poms to cover ends of Pipe Cleaner.

A kid friendly favorite, warmed up for Winter!

Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich Cooking spray2 slices whole wheat bread1 banana sliced2 tablespoons peanut butter

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter onto one side of each slice of bread. Place banana slices onto the peanut buttered side of one slice, top with the other slice and press together firmly. Fry the sandwich until golden brown on each side, about 2 minutes per side.

Instructions:1. Lay the paper bag on your desk so that the folded bottom is facing up. Cut the bag off

about an inch below the folded bottom.2. Unfold the bag and cut a U-shaped opening on one side.3. To shape the cave or burrow, place the bag so that one side rests flat on the table

and the side with the U-shaped opening rests at an angle.4. Create and cut out plants and animals to decorate the scene
