ELANTAS Beck is a subsidiary of ELANTAS Electrical Insulation.

ELANTAS develops and produces wire enamels, impregnating

resins, sealing compounds, conformal coatings and casting resins,

which are used for the isolation of electric motors, generators,

printed circuit boards, sensors and electronic modules. For the

printed and organic electronics industry ELANTAS Beck develops

and produces insulating polymers, encapsulations materials and

glues based on alkyd, epoxy, melamine, polyimide, polyurethane,

unsaturated polyester and other resins chemistry. Our experience

covers not only resin production and basic research of our own

R&D department, but also our extensive application support and

technical service.

In our application department we offer clean-room conditions, a

flexo- and gravure printer for printing tests of the insulators and

encapsulation materials. We also have the possibility to manufac-

ture and measure organic field effect transistors (OFET) and make

stability tests of our materials in climatic test cabinets. This allows

the control of products' properties right from the very start, consi-

stent product quality and flexible response to constantly changing

market needs.

BYK is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the additives and

instruments sector. Additives are chemical substances that – even

when added in small quantities – enhance product properties such

as scratch-resistance or surface gloss. Moreover, entire manufactu-

ring processes can also be optimized by means of additives.

The main uses for BYK additives include application areas in the

coatings, printing ink and plastics industries. But the demand for

BYK additives is also growing rapidly in paper coatings, in the pro-

duction of adhesives and sealants and in construction chemistry –

because they are also being used to continuously optimize product

properties and manufacturing processes in these sectors as well. In

2009, BYK expanded its product portfolio with the addition of raw

materials used in the manufacture of release agents for aluminum

die-casting.

Additive for Coatings and Printing InksCoatings, printing inks and overprint varnishes require good wet-

ting of various substrates, excellent surface protection and defoa-

ming, and good pigment stabilization. BYK has the right additives

for both conventional drying and radiation-curing systems, aque-

ous or solvent-borne.

Additives for Adhesives & Sealants Gluing as a means of joining different components has become an

integral part of today’s modern industry sectors such as the auto-

motive industry or the electrical industry. BYK is your competent

technology partner when it comes to improving the properties of

adhesives and sealants systematically.

Additives for Plastics ApplicationsBYK plastics additives are used to optimize nearly all aspects of

your system. With BYK plastics additives you are able to positively

influence the processing properties of your system as well as its

mechanical and aesthetical properties and, ultimately, the quality

of your final product.

InstrumentsAppearance – such as gloss, haze, transparency – Color and about

any other paint, coating, or plastic physical property can be

measured with BYK-Gardner instruments.

NanoparticlesAs a key technology of the 21st century, nanotechnology offers

great potential for developing new additive solutions. NANOBYK®

additives, supplied as ready-to-use dispersions, improve UV or

scratch resistance using cerium oxide or zinc oxide and alumina or

silica nano particles. Electrical conductivity is achieved using BYK

additives based on CNT. BYK has developed dispersions in diffe-

rent media like solvents and water with up to 10 % MWCNT con-

tent. Such dispersions exhibit a high degree of dispersion state of

MWCNT and are compatible to a large variety of coating systems

and plastics. All Nanodispersions are offered for UV-, water- and

solvent based ink & coating formulations.
