2THE PILLARS OF OUR DEVELOPMENT MODELCIRCULAR BIOECONOMY AS TERRITORIAL REGENERATION
Novamont is the international leader in the bioplastics sector and in the development of biochemicals and bioproducts obtained from the
integration of chemistry, agriculture and the environment. Novamont promotes a circular bioeconomy model with people at the center
and capable of regenerating the territories. This model is based on three pillars:
REGENERATION OF DEINDUSTRIALISED SITES
INTEGRATED AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAIN
Development of low impact value chains through the
valorisation of marginal land not in competition with food
production, integrated in local areas and connected with the
biorefineries
PRODUCTS CONCEIVED AS SOLUTIONS
Products and value chains are conceived and designed to
provide unique and sustainable solutions for specific
environmental and social problems closely related to water
and soil quality
Reindustrialisation of no longer competitive sites thanks to
proprietary technologies first in the world in order to create
biorefineries integrated with the territory and interconnected with
each other

3A BENEFIT COMPANYWITH PEOPLE, COMMUNITIES, TERRITORIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT AT ITS CENTER
https://bcorporation.eu/about-b-lab/
In 2020 Novamont obtained the B-Corp certification, becoming part of the global movement that is rewriting the way of doing business in the world, and has amended its company statute to acquire the legal form of a Benefit Corporation.
Benefit Corporations meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. This significant paradigm shift represents an opportunity not only for individual companies, but also for the qualification of entire industries.
The B Corp system provides a rigorous certification tool for the objectives and systemic results of Benefit Corporations.

7FROM NOVAMONT RESEARCH IT BECOMES MATER-BI
CONTROLLED BIOPLASTIC as a result of a constant innovation towards attaining the highest and most stringent quality standards
• Solution for specific environmental problems• Added value both in use and in the end-of-life • Biodegradation in composting, soil and marine
environment
• Accredited and certified by international bodies as conforming to European standard EN 13432
PRODUCTS AS SOLUTIONS
Biodegradable with the possibility of organic recycling
(composting and anaerobic digestion)
Use of renewable raw materials (dedicated crops
not in competition with food crops, scraps)
RENEWABILITY
BIODEGRADABILITY AND COMPOSTABILITY
FOR SPECIFIC APPLICATION SECTORS:
-
8PRODUCTS AS SOLUTIONSTHE ADDED VALUE OF BIODEGRADABILITY IN DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS
The use of compost and other quality
organic materials in agriculture
represents an important solution for the
regeneration and maintenance of soil
fertility and the decarbonisation of the
atmosphere
+ SOC
BIODEGRADATION IN SOILneeded for products used in agriculture creatingaccumulation problems (i.e. herbicides, plastic mulch, slow release systems, coatings of seeds/ fertilizers etc.)
BIODEGRADATION IN WATERneeded for products with problems of accumulation in water and in sewage sludges of water treatment plants, as in case of non biodegradable additives in cosmetics and detergents
BIODEGRADATION IN COMPOSTINGNeeded in applications highly likely to be polluted by food residues or which would pollute organic waste that would then end up in landfills (f&v bags, waste bags, coffee capsules, multilayer films, labels, foodservices etc)

10A HIGHLY EFFICIENT PLANT
MATER-BIOPOLYMER
Virtuous example of industrial development in terms of regeneration of local areas, continuous innovation and valorization of pre-existing skills and infrastructures.
Result of the conversion of a plant dedicated to the production of PET. The various sections of the plant have been regenerated or replaced, to allow the use of renewable raw materials in the production process.
Facilities have been implemented to increase the sustainability and significantly reduce the emissions.
Highly efficient plant, equipped with a complex system of utilities which contribute to minimizing costs and waste through the recovery and reuse of by-products. Advanced automatic process control systems (Industry 4.0) have been integrated with a view to increasing process efficiency and product quality.
