UttarayanUttarayanUttarayanUttarayan
Special assemblies on 10.01.13 were held to celebrate Makar Sakranti,
Uttarayan, Lohri and Pongal for classes I and II and III - V in Abhivyakti.
The mood in the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in
the festive spirit. The assemblies started with prayers and a prayer song. New
Year was welcomed followed by thought for the day “God is everywhere” which
was highlighted through a small story narrated by the students.
-
----11111111
As Makar Sakranti is associated with various harvest festivals celebrated
across India, a student gave information about the same along with a small
ppt showing the different moods of the festival. In Gujarat, Makar Sakranti is
associated with Uttarayan, the festival of fun, frolic and high octane kite flying
celebration. A small skit was enacted to teach students about the safety rules
and precautions one must follow in order to have a safe Uttarayan. A dance
and song highlighting the importance of the festival of Lohri and Pongal were
presented by the students of classes I and II and a beautifully choreographed
dance presented by students of class IV which highlighted the essence of
Uttarayan. The students, dressed in traditional attire, sang songs of the

journey towards success in the attire of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Rajendra

citizens and to respect and love their nation.
HoliHoliHoliHoli
Holi celebration takes place with a lot of joy and fervor throughout the country.
Holi helps to bring the society together and strengthen the secular fabric of our
country. Keeping this in mind we at DPS Bopal celebrated the festival with a
spirit of bonhomie and brotherhood by having a special assembly dedicated to it
on 11.03.13 for the classes I and II. The assembly began with Ganesh Stuti
followed by a prayer dance. There were the thought for the day and the news
headlines.
-
----14141414
Holi gets us close to our religion and our mythology as it is essentially the
celebration of various legends associated with the festival, such as, the legend of
Prahlad and Hiranyakshyap and therefore the story was narrated for the
benefit of the children. It was followed by a song and a dance. Later the
children bid adieu to their teachers as very soon they would be going to the next
class. With smiles on their lips and tears in their eyes they played Holi with
their teachers and gave beautiful cards made by them.
ThanksgivingThanksgivingThanksgivingThanksgiving
“action de grace”, a thanksgiving assembly was conducted on 12.03.13 by the
students of class V to express their gratitude towards all the teachers who have
contributed in making their journey through the primary classes, wonderful. It
began with a prayer, “Ganesh Vandana” which was followed by an apt
thought for the day.
-
----15151515
A group of students then put up a welcome song which was followed by a
rocking Rap song. Students also felicitated each and every teacher teaching in
classes III - V with a creative title. Few students expressed their “special
memories” about the primary school life along with a collage of snapshots
depicting their batch in various moods. It was followed by a satire in the form
of a Qawwali. Not forgetting the colourful Holi fest, there was a Haryanvi
dance put up by the Dance and Music Hobby students of class V.
At the end of the assembly, the H.M. addressed the gathering. She advised the
students to set their own targets be it academics or co-curricular activities. She
