Southwest Medical University (SWMU) was founded in 1951 and is a government university recognized by both the Chinese government and the World Health Organization. SWMU confers bachelor’s degree and master’s degree, it has the postdoctoral program jointly with other universities, and has a National Post-doctoral Scientific Research Station.

SWMU covers 1,340,000 square meters with 2 campuses - Zhongshan campus and Chengbei campus. There are over 19000 students studying on campus, including 17072 under-graduates, 1682 postgraduates and 386 international students.

There are 1147 full-time teachers, among which 516 are hold-ing senior professional titles, 472 are holding doctor’s degree, 672 are MD supervisors and 34 are PHO supervisors.

The fields of SWMU mainly focus on medical science cover-ing 7 disciplines including medical science, natural science, management, literature, education, engineering and law. Clin-ical medicine is among the top 0.66°/o of ESI ranking. SWMU has 30 undergraduate majors and 23 postgraduate majors.

SWMU has established cooperative relationships with insti-tutions and universities of higher education, medical care and scientific research in 22 countries and regions, such as the U.S.A., the U.K., and Australia. More than 500 postdoctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate students who come from 24 countries have graduated from SWMU.

SWMU has 3 class A-Grade III affiliated hospitals. It is the provincial medical and health care center at the conjunction area - of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou Provinces and Chongqing City, and serves more than 40 million people.

Application Procedure

1. Time of Application: Master degree pro-gram: April 1st to July 30th each year

2. The Confirmation Letter and JW202 forms will be sent to the qualified applicants, with which the students can apply for their “X” visas in the Chinese Embassy.
