Introduction

The biomedical engineering (BME) discipline is one of the rapidly growing engineering

domain due to the recent advancements made in medical technologies, treatment and

diagnosis strategies. These advancements will likely to provide immense benefits to the

global society. The Master’s degree of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Engineering by

coursework and thesis is designed in two academic years to provide advanced modern

education sessions and training in a variety of new generation fieldsof biomedical

engineering. The program requires students to establish the necessary foundation in

systems-level biology, physiology and mathematics, in addition to the advanced

biomedical engineering disciplines. Also, students will utilize the knowledge and

practical skills they learn to conduct research in the end of the program to complete the

degree, which will help students to do PhD in the relevant fields.Taken together, this

program will give students the opportunity to learn and implement advanced

technologies and to perform leading edge research in biomedical engineering.

Based on theministry of education and national qualifications framework in the

Kingdome of Saudi Arabia, students will require to successfully achieve a minimum of

39 credit hours, of which a minimum of 31 credit hours must be in graduate level

courses and 6 credit hours of thesis,to obtain the degreeof Master of Siencein

Biomedical Engineering (MScBME). Students will also be prepared for the master's

thesis in the last semester by 2 credit hoursforresearch methodology and 2 credit hours

for research project in the level 1 and 2, respectively.
