Basic Details[]DescriptionSurgery has become an essential component of health care. It is often the case that surgery is the only processthat can alleviate disability and reduce risk for common diseases.In this context, a nurse within a surgical team, plays a fundamental role in contributing to the success of the surgeryundertaken and therefore in the patient's recuperation. However, in order for nurses to carry out this role effectively,they need specific training that has been planned and adapted to new circumstances, providing professionalswith specific skills for curing surgery patients throughout the perioperative process, applying criteria of quality andsafety.For over a century now, surgery nursing has been accompanying patients and providing care and attention tothem. Obviously, its role has changed, growing in a way that parallels that of the nursing and surgery professions ingeneral.We support the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses' definition of a perioperative nurse as one whoaccompanies the surgery patient throughout the perioperative process (pre-, intra- and postoperative phases) ofa surgical intervention or of an invasive process having the basic purpose of ensuring the patient's safety throughfour domains:- The ability to create and maintain a physically safe environment- The ability to create and maintain a physiological safety- The ability to learn how to handle the surgical procedure for the patient and family- The ability to maintain the patient's rights and values as an individual.All theoretical and practical knowledge provided is structured around these four basic ambits that are essential forcarrying out nursing roles and functions responsibly within the perioperative field.[]Admission requirements- Holders of a Nursing Diploma wishing to develop their professional activity within the area of surgery.- Holders of a Nursing Diploma currently working in surgical and resuscitation units and who wish to compensatefor lack of training.- Interest in the professionalisation of perioperative nursing.- The wish to work with professionals making up surgery unit/service teams.- Interest in analysing and reflecting on current practice in perioperative nursing in order to carry out proposals forand participation in quality improvement in surgery-patient care.[]CalendarStart date (dd/mm/yyyy): 25/09/2019End date (dd/mm/yyyy): 31/05/2020[]Openings35[]LocationE.U. d'Infermeria de l'Hospital de Santa Creu i Sant Pau, C.
