Master Degree Program in Chemistry Discipline code: 0703 . ADMISSION The School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering of Jiangsu University provides outstanding opportunities for advanced study in numerous fields of chemistry. GOAL The program leading to obtaining a Master Degree emphasizes the attainment of a high level of competency in a specialized area of chemistry, but also requires the development of a broad knowledge, at least partly through course work and by attending research seminars. By the time the degree is earned, the student should show promise of becoming a capable and independent research scientist. Specifically following goals should be achieved: (1) The student should master the basic principles, professional skills and research methods of chemical production process and equipment. (2) The student should possess research ability in terms of chemical synthesis, design of production technology, chemical equipment, industrial catalysis process research and chemical application technology. (3) The student should be able to be independently engaged in the fields of chemical industry and other related work, such as technology development, new technology research, new product development, engineering design and production technology management. (4) The student should be able to read the professional literature skillfully and write research papers proficiently. . Ⅴ. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS A minimum 3 years graduate study is required. Chemistry major students are required to accomplish at least 30 course credits and the credits for

degree courses should be no less than 18. All the courses should be taken within one year, while the additional 2 years are usually dedicated to the dissertation research and thesis defense.

Through the Master Degree Program, the students are expected to understand Chinese cultural, and learn Chinese language while developing professional knowledge and skills with the aim to be able to carry out independent research. Essential Objectives

Content Coverage

Generally two type of courses, degree courses and elective courses, are included in the program. The degree courses consist of public compulsory, fundamental theories, professional foundation and specialized courses. Public compulsory courses include Chinese Overview of China. Fundamental theories include advanced inorganic chemistry, advanced organic chemistry, advanced physical chemistry and modern analytical chemistry. Professional foundation or specialized courses include nano-chemistry, instrument analytical technology, metal organic chemistry, applied electrochemistry, functional polymer materials, frontier seminars, and topic presentation. Evaluation For degree courses, students need to take the paper examination, while elective courses accept short papers about the courses. Ⅷ. PRACTICE PROCESS AND REQIREMENTS

Refer to the relevant provisions of <Training Program of Jiangsu University for Graduate Students (general)>, <Jiangsu University graduate training process Introduction>

All the students are required to participate in practice program as teaching assistants in labs or internees in a chemical company.

The graduate students are also required to attend related seminars more than 20 times. Ⅸ. ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND SUPERVISORY

The master degree candidates should be directed by a qualified major supervisor (Ph.D. graduate faculty), as well as a committee panel containing several qualified co-advisors/committee members. The Advisory Committee initially consists of at least 4 members of the Graduate Faculty, including the Major Advisor, who acts as the chair. At least 2 members must be from the School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, with at least 1 of these being a full member of the Graduate Faculty. The remaining 2 members may be from School of Management or another college, with 1 being a full member of the Graduate Faculty. If the student declares a minor, 1 committee member must be from the minor department. The committee should be established by the end of the second semester of the student’s graduate career. Ⅹ. OTHER ISSUES AND REQUIREMENTS

Graduate students are required to initiate their thesis study projects prior to the end of the second semester. The medium-term examination for thesis study is scheduled in the fourth semester. Other following important schedules relevant to your graduate study could be found from the Overseas Education College (OEC) at Jiangsu University. In general, a Master’s student is required to have a research proposal and a plan of study accepted by his or her Graduate Advisory Committee by the end of the second semester of study. A list of completed courses and those proposed to meet school requirements should also be prepared. A meeting of the Advisory Committee should be convened by the student to discuss his/her proposal and course work.

Every graduate student is required to publish at least one research paper in a relevant INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL prior to being eligible to apply for a dissertation defense. The thesis must demonstrate a mastery of research techniques, ability to perform independent research.

The above achievements are required to publish with Jiangsu University as the first corresponding unit. Ⅺ. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

一、入学要求: 江苏大学化学化工学院招收化学学科留学硕士研究生,招生对象基本要求如下: (1) 具有相当于中国大学本科毕业的学历; (2) 有两名相当于副教授以上的导师推荐; (3) 年龄在 35 岁以下,身体健康的外国友人; (4) 汉语水平要求达到新汉语水平测试 4 级或以上。 二、培养总目标:

五、学制及学分要求: 硕士研究生的学习年限为 3 年。 硕士研究生用一年完成课程学习,用一年半到两年时间从事学位论文研究工作,完成硕士

研究生论文并通过答辩。硕士研究生在学期间所修学分不得低于 30 学分,其中学位课程不得低

于 18 学分。 其他相关要求参见《江苏大学学术型硕士研究生培养方案(总则)》。 满足论文发表要求,授予学位。

总目标:通过课程学习,了解中国的文化背景,学习汉语基本常识,熟练运用汉语表达;

掌握专业知识背景,具有良好的科研实验能力,能独立开展科研实验;广泛了解学习与专业相

关的学科知识及其延伸课程;掌握化学的基本原理、专业技能和研究方法,具有化工产品合成、

生产工艺的研发、工业催化过程的研究、化学应用技术的研究能力,具有独立从事化学及相关

学科的创新能力。

基本目标:按照学年顺序,第一学期学习汉语,了解中国文化背景,学习基础理论及专业

基础课程;第二学期学历专业课程和专业选修课程。

内容简介:课程包括学位课和选修课两部分,学位课程由公共必修、基础理论和专业基础

或专业课组成。公共必修课程包括汉语和中国概述;基础理论包括高等无机化学、高等有机化

学、高等物理化学和现代分析化学;专业基础或专业课包括化学反应工程概述、催化化学、高

等配位化学和高等仪器分析实验;选修课程包括可持续发展与生产、分离科学与技术、纳米化

学基础、先进材料及其应用、前沿讲座、专题报告等。

评价方式:学位课以考试形式,选修课以考察和研究报告方式。

八、实践环节与要求 相关规定参见《江苏大学学术型硕士研究生培养方案(总则)》和《江苏大学硕士研究生

培养环节简介》要求。

此外安排学生参与本科生实验的指导工作,进行助教工作或进行生产实践,并且进行仪器

技能培训,并获得大型仪器设备操作证书,有条件的学生到工厂参与导师的合作课题或进行见

习,完成社会实践并上交社会实践报告。

研究生在校期间要参加学术报告 20 次以上,每次报告都应有相应的记录。 九、指导委员会与指导方式

硕士学位研究生应当由一名合格的导师主要指导(博士研究生学历),以及包含几个合格

的指导老师的指导小组共同指导。指导小组至少由 4 名指导成员组成,包括主要的导师,即指

导小组组长。至少有 2 名成员必须是化学化工学院的成员,其中至少有 1 名是研究生院的正式

成员。其余 2 名成员可来自于管理学院或其他学院,其中 1 名为研究生院的正式成员。如果学

生为未成年人,则至少 1 名指导小组成员须来自未成年部门。该指导小组应该由学生的研究生

学业生涯的第二个学期结束时成立。 十、其他环节与要求 研究生需在第二学期结束前进行论文开题。中期检查被安排在第四学期。其他关于研究生学

习的重要日程可以从江苏大学海外教育学院(OEC)找到。总的来说,在第二个学期结束前,硕

士生需要有一个开题报告和指导小组同意的研究计划。完成课程和那些建议,以满足学校要求

的清单也应准备。咨询委员会会议应由学生召开讨论他/她的建议和课程作业。

每个研究生在申请论文答辩之前,必须在相关国际期刊发表至少一篇研究论文。论文必须展

示出对于研究技术的掌握,进行原创和独立研究的能力,并且具有得出结论的技能。

上述论文的取得都必须以江苏大学为第一单位。

Ⅰ. ADMISSION The School of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering of Jiangsu University provides outstanding opportunities for advanced study in Chemical Engineering and Technology. To apply for the Master Degree program, international candidates need to meet the following requirements. (1) Having obtained a degree equivalent to Chinese bachelor degree or above. (2) Recommendation letters from more than two faculty members equivalent to Chinese associate

professors or above (3) Healthy and aged under 35-year old. (4) HSK Chinese proficiency test level 4 or above.. Ⅱ. GOAL

The program leading to obtaining a Master Degree emphasizes the attainment of a high level of competency in Chemical Engineering and Technology, but also requires the development of a broad knowledge, at least partly through course work and by attending research seminars. By the time the degree is earned, the student should be able to work independently in chemical related academic research and product development. Specifically following goals should be achieved: (1) The student should master the basic principles, professional skills and research methods of

chemical production process and equipment. (2) The student should possess research ability in terms of chemical synthesis, design of production

technology, chemical equipment, industrial catalysis process research and chemical application technology.

(3) The student should be able to be independently engaged in the fields of chemical industry and other related work, such as technology development, new technology research, new product development, engineering design and production technology management.

(4) The student should be able to read the professional literature skillfully and write research papers proficiently. Ⅲ. OBJECTIVES In order to achieve the Master degree, all the candidates should meet the following requirements: (1) Be able to adapt to China's environment as soon as possible, including the living and learning

Ⅴ. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS 2.5 - 3 years graduate study is required. Chemical Engineering major students are required to accomplish at least 30 course credits and

the credits for degree courses should be no less than 18. All the courses should be taken within one year, while the additional 1.5 - 2 years are usually dedicated to the dissertation research and thesis defense.

Ⅶ. COURSE CONTENT Goal

Through the Master Degree Program, the students are expected to understand Chinese cultural, and learn Chinese language while developing professional knowledge and skills with the aim to be able to engage in chemical industry. Essential Objectives

According to the program, the first semester is designated to learn Chinese, Chinese culture, basic theory and professional foundation courses. The second semester focus on the academic curriculum and elective courses. Content Coverage

The course include degree courses and elective courses two parts, degree courses consist of the public compulsory, fundamental theories, and professional foundation or specialized courses. Public compulsory courses include Chinese and Overview of China; Fundamtal theories include Numerical Analysis, Mathematical Statistics, Advanced Physical Chemistry and Modern Analytical Chemistry; Professional foundation or specialized courses include Chemical Reaction Engineering Reviews, Catalysis Chemistry, Separation Science and Technology, Material Structure Analysis, and Advanced Instrumental Analysis Experiment. Elective courses include Sustainable Development and Cleaner Production, Preparation and Characteristics of Catalysts, Advanced Coordination Chemistry, Nanoscale Chemical Foundation, Advanced Materials and Applications, Materials Preparation and Applications, Molecular Recognition Technology and Application, Photocatalysis Technology and Application, Electrochemical Measurement Techniques, Metal Organic Chemistry, Preparation and Characterization of Polymer Materials, Experimental and Research Methods of Catalysis, and Workshop of Specialty. In addition, Supplementary courses include Chemical Reaction Engineering, Chemical Technology, Industrial Catalysis, and Chemical Principles. Evaluation

For degree courses, students need to take the paper examination, while elective courses accept short papers about the courses. Ⅷ. PRACTICE PROCESS AND REQIREMENTS

Refer to the relevant provisions of <Training Program of Jiangsu University for Graduate Students (general)>, <Jiangsu University graduate training process Introduction>

All the students are required to participate in practice program as teaching assistants in labs or internees in a chemical company.

The graduate students are also required to attend related seminars more than 20 times. Ⅸ ADVISORY COMIMITEE AND SUPERVISORY

The master postgraduate students should be directed by a qualified major supervisor (Ph.D. graduate faculty), as well as a committee panel containing several qualified co-advisors/committee members. The Advisory Committee initially consists of at least 4 members of the Graduate Faculty, including the Major Advisor, who acts as the chair. At least 2 members must be from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, with at least 1 of these being a full member of the Graduate Faculty. The remaining 2 members may be from School of Management or another college, with 1 being a full member of the Graduate Faculty. If the student declares a minor, 1 committee member must be from the minor department. The committee should be established by the end of the second semester of the student’s graduate career.

Ⅹ. OTHER ISSUES AND REQUIREMENTS

Graduate students are required to initiate their thesis study projects prior to the end of the second semester. The medium-term examination for thesis study is scheduled in the fourth semester. Other following important schedules relevant to your graduate study could be found from the Overseas Education College (OEC) at Jiangsu University. In general, a Master’s student is required to have a research proposal and a plan of study accepted by his or her Graduate Advisory Committee by the end of the second semester of study. A list of completed courses and those proposed to meet school requirements should also be prepared. A meeting of the Advisory Committee should be convened by the student to discuss his/her proposal and course work.

Every graduate student is required to publish at least one research paper in a relevant INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL prior to being eligible to apply a dissertation defense. The thesis must demonstrate a mastery of research techniques, ability to perform original and independent research, and skill in formulating conclusions that enlarge upon or modify accepted ideas.

The above achievements are required to be with the first unit of Jiangsu University. Ⅺ. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

学基础、先进材料及其应用、前沿讲座、专题报告等。补修课程包括化学反应工程,化工工艺

学,工业催化和化工原理。

八、实践环节与要求 相关规定参见《江苏大学学术型硕士研究生培养方案(总则)》和《江苏大学硕士研究生培

养环节简介》要求。

此外安排学生参与本科生实验的指导工作,进行助教工作或进行生产实践,并且进行仪器

技能培训,并获得大型仪器设备操作证书,有条件的学生到工厂参与导师的合作课题或进行见

习,完成社会实践并上交社会实践报告。

研究生在校期间要参加学术报告 20 次以上,每次报告都应有相应的记录。 九、指导委员会与指导方式 硕士学位研究生应当由一名合格的导师主要指导(博士研究生学历),以及包含几个合格的

指导老师的指导小组共同指导。指导小组至少由 4 名指导成员组成,包括主要的导师,即指导

小组组长。至少有 2 名成员必须是化学化工学院的成员,其中至少有 1 名是研究生院的正式成

员。其余 2 名成员可来自于管理学院或其他学院,其中 1 名为研究生院的正式成员。如果学生

为未成年人,则至少 1 名指导小组成员须来自未成年部门。该指导小组应该由学生的研究生学

业生涯的第二个学期结束时成立。 十、其他环节与要求
