TOTAL ALLEGIANCE
In previous weeks we have seen how the theme
of covenant—as a preparation for the baptismal
covenant celebrated at Easter—occupies an
important place in our cycle of Lenten readings.
The notion of covenant as a relationship between
two parties carries with it an expectation of
mutual accountability and fidelity to the terms of
the covenant. When God forged the covenant
with the Jewish people on Mt. Sinai, it was a
pledge of God’s protection, and it would forever
permit them familiar access as the Chosen
People. For their part, the Jewish people were to
observe the dictates of the law, summarized most
succinctly here in the form of the Ten
Commandments. To be in a covenantal
relationship with the Lord God requires an
exclusive relationship, just as discipleship with
Jesus—ritualized in baptism—demands a total
allegiance to him and none other.

Palm Sunday will be on March 28. This year
we will be doing something a little different.
We would like for you to bring a small tree
seedling or a plant of your choice to church.
Fr. Naul will bless these seedlings or plants
and then you will be able to take them home
to plant and enjoy watching them grow.
DAYLIGHT SAVING TIMES BEGINS NEXT WEEK.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO MOVE YOUR CLOCK
FORWARD ONE HOUR BEFORE YOU GO TO BED ON
SATURDAY, MARCH 13.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
To Parents of Students who are preparing for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and
Confirmation. From this point forward attendance at classes and at Mass are of the upmost
importance. We understand that there have been many circumstances over the past few weeks
that may have made it difficult for you and your children to attend, but please understand that we
are doing everything possible to sanitize and social distance to provide a safe place for your child
to learn and for you to worship. It is important that all students make the effort to attend class and
that all worship as a family at Mass. We have witnessed many students being dropped off at class
and then picked up after class without attending Mass. Both class and Mass are important for the
preparation of their Sacraments.
Due to the large number of absenteeism your child will be asked to pick up a bulletin after Mass
and have Fr. Naul, Seminarian Daniel Flores or their CCD teacher sign the bulletin and bring it with
them to the next CCD class as proof that they attended Mass. If their absences continue from this
point forward they will not be able to make their First Communion or Confirmation.
We thank you for your understanding.

ST. JOSEPH NOVENA
Pope Francis announced a Year of St. Joseph, in honor of the
150th anniversary of the saint’s proclamation as patron of the

God’s will.”

Martin will begin a novena in honor of St. Joseph on March 10 at
