What is a color run? This event is less about your 10minutemile andmore about having the time of your life. Color
Runs tend to be a fivekilometer, untimed eventin which the participants, or “Color Runners”, are
doused from head to toe in a color zone.
What about the weather? It has been said that a color run can be held rainor shine, but it is recommended that this event isplanned during a more mild season, and at least
six months in advance.
What do the runners wear?White tshirts! This is so the color can be seen.
These can be Massanutten tshirtsthat are bought separately, or included in the priceof the registration. Alternatively, runners could buy
them on their own or use a shirt they alreadyhave.
How is color administered?Color is distributed at color zones! It is
recommended that a tarp is put down at each colorzone. Typically, color zones are placed every
kilometer, where people are stationed to blast eachrunner that goes by!
Below you will find a list of thingsthat must be included in the budget, and the following page contains
information on where some of thesethings may be acquired.

HOW TO GET CLEAN
Oiling your hair well on race morning will make it easier towash out the color later. Coconut oil or olive oil work best.
Many runners wear a thick scarf or bandana to cover theirhair. Others use the bandana to cover their mouth as they
run through the color zones or to help wash off after.
We suggest some form of eyewear. Some people wearsunglasses or swim goggles.
Have some fun with it and try to avoid getting a lot of
powder in your eyes.
Dust off as much dry powder as you can before you apply any
water.Rinse out the oil/conditioner you wisely applied before the
race with cold water. Most of the color should come right out.Now wash hair as you normally would.
It is not uncommon for hints of some of the color, pink andpurple particularly, to stick around for a few washes. The coloris probably not coming all the way out of your white cotton
shirt.
Wash your Gear separately, with COLD water. Oxiclean, or asimilar product, will work wonders on your running equipment.
Before
After
Q: Do I need to be a runner to participate?
A. NO! There are plenty of other runs out there to test speed and performance, but this event is about a color crazy day with friends and family. You can run,
jog, walk, whatever you prefer!
Q: Can children participate?
A.Yes!
Q: Can I run with my dog/cat/other animal?
A: For safety reasons, animals will not be allowed at the race.
Q. How is the color administered along the course?
A. There will be people on the sidelines whose job will be to douse you incolorful powder to ensure that look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by
the time you reach the finish line!
Q. Will the color ruin clothes or running shoes?
A. The color does mostly wash out after the event. However, as with anythingdirty the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you
wouldn’t mind getting colorful.
Q. How does the color affect the inside of cars?
A. Most people bring towels for the inside of their cars or a change of clothesso nothing gets ruined!
Q. Is the color run timed?
A. No it is not timed!

If you decide to take this event outside of Massanutten and promote it to thearea, we have some suggestions for how to go about doing that in the most
effective way possible.
Colors runs tend to bepopular with a youngercrowd, which is why itwould be an interesting
idea to expandpromotion to the public.
We recommend postingyour event on
ACTIVE.com. This is aplatform for people toexplore and register forfitness events in their
communities.
This is also a place togive you an idea of
pricing for the area, aswell as similar eventsthat will be occurring in
the area.
It is absolutely a must foran event like a color runto have a Facebookpage. This is an
excellent way for peopleto inform their friends, and join as a team.
Studies have found thatpeople are much morelikely to sign up for anevent if they are doing itwith their friends, andthis is an excellent wayto get the word out.
Ensuring that photos aretaken at the event
wonderful way to planahead for promotion if youdecided you wanted tohave another color run in
a year.
Fun runs are all about thevisual aspect of things, and by having photostaken, people will
undoubtedly share themon social media. This is afoolproof way to garnerinterest in an event.

LUCK!
