THE CATHOLIC STRONG CAMPAIGN

Catholic Strong is coming to Our Lady of Guadalupe. You may have heard about Catholic Strong from family or friends in other parishes and

now it is our turn. This weekend at all of our Masses we will show a short video to help kick off our parish campaign. Our parish has a long history of

faith-filled people who accepted and spread our Catholic Faith, built churches, and established a legacy of God’s love grounded in the Joy of the

Gospel. Now it is our turn to continue to build and spread the faith that we love. The Catholic Strong

campaign is focused on keeping our parish strong into the future. Yes, it is a financial campaign, but the good news is that 70% of all the funds that we raise

stay right here in our parish. No strings attached. Our parish goal is $1,340,000, of which we will receive $938,000 (70%). We need to grow our parish

and address critical building and pastoral needs. Our aging buildings need repairs and upgrades and we seek to enhance our youth and young adult programs.

We need to keep our parish strong now and into the future. Our grandparents and parents have kept the Catholic Faith alive and strong in our community.

Now it is our turn to build the faith. You will be asked to pray and to think about making a pledge to this campaign in the near future. Your donation can

be spread out over 3 to 5 years. In advance, I thank you for all you already do to grow our parish and keep Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Catholic Strong. Our

Lady of Grace, St. Luke, St. Lawrence, and Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

God Bless you and your family, Father Vince

Dios te bendiga a ti y a tu familia, Padre Vicente

Is God Calling you to be an Altar Server?

Serving the Lord as an Altar Server is a

special ministry for many young people in our parish. We are thankful for their courage and their decision to be Missionary Disciples by serving God at His Altar. We are looking for more young people to be a part of this great ministry. If you are in 5th grade or older and want to be an Altar Server please call the parish office. Don't be afraid to serve because no experience is necessary. All you need is: love of God, an open heart, and a desire to learn more about the Mass and how it can change our lives. We thank you for prayerfully considering this call to service, and encouraging our friends and families to become the Missionary Disciples that Christ is calling us to be. May God bless you and your family.

The Gospel Challenge: The Gospel of Matthew Discussion Thursday, September 27, 2018 St. Luke Church 7:00 p.m. Join fellow parishioners and friends as we gather to discuss and reflect upon the Gospel of Matthew that we have been reading and praying with this month. The reflection questions provided each week should help you think about how this gospel has touched your heart and soul. (Please note that we will offer a reflection session as we complete our reading of each particular gospel). Bishop Robert Barron’s – The Mass Tuesdays, Oct. 2 – Nov. 6, 2018 St. Luke Church 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 4 – Nov 8, 2018 OLG Chapel 10:00 a.m. Last year we presented The Catholicism series to parishioners. This Fall we present another Bishop Barron program called The Mass. Walk through the Liturgy with Bishop Barron and you'll be transformed through insights on this most privileged and intimate encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ. We go to Mass every week but there is so much to understand. The Mass program will help you understand how to fully, consciously, and actively participate in the Mass, the source and summit of the Christian life. I hope you can join us for this six (6) week series. The Mass Program will be offered on Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings beginning the first week of October:

ALL ARE LOVED. ALL ARE WELCOME!

te bendiga a ti y a tu familia. Padre Vicente y Padre Adam

The Parish Gospel Challenge / El Desafío del Evangelio Parroquial

The Gospel of Matthew – Chapters 15 through 21

This week we begin the 3rd week of our Gospel Challenge and we continue to journey with Jesus through the Gospel of Matthew. Below are reflection questions you can think and pray about as you read just one chapter day. Allow the Lord to speak to you through His Word. If a word or gospel passage touches your heart then pray with that. What is the Lord saying to you this week? Matthew Chapter 15 Question: What are some ways a person can honor the Lord with their words but not with their heart? Jesus fed the hungry crowd, in what ways does our Lord feed and nourish you? Matthew Chapter 16 Question: Jesus teaches his disciples what it takes to follow him. We are called to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow. How can you do this? In what ways can you serve and sacrifice for Christ and for others? Matthew Chapter 17 Question: God the Father confirms who Jesus is and tells Peter, James, and John to “listen to him.” How can you listen more to Jesus? How do you feel when Jesus says that with faith, nothing is impossible for you? Matthew Chapter 18 Question: What are the attributes of a child that Jesus calls us to imitate as we follow him? Take comfort that Jesus is always looking for the ‘lost sheep.” Is there a lost soul that you can pray for? Matthew Chapter 19 Question: Who are the best witnesses for you as they live lives of a holy and faithful marriage and of a holy and faithful priesthood or religious life? How do you feel when you read the story of the rich young man? Matthew Chapter 20 Question: Do you notice that when Jesus predicts his passion he calls you also to take up your cross and to follow? How to you respond? James and John sought status and power, how does Jesus respond? How can you and the Church follow these lessons more closely? Matthew Chapter 21 Question: The passion approaches and Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey. What does this entry say to you? Jesus cleanses the temple in this chapter, in what ways does the Church today need to be cleansed?

Estamos llamados a negarnos a nosotros mismos, tomar nuestra cruz y seguir.

The 2018-2019 school year began on September 5th for grades K-8. Principal, Mrs. Persing and Fr. Vince greeted and directed students to their classes. Students were very excited to see one another and begin a new year!

Celebrating a New School Year! Many enjoyed a fun Back to School Bash, hosted by our P.T.A.,

faculty and staff. Families reconnected, teachers welcomed back students and we celebrated a new school year

together. There was plenty of fun, food and laughter at school!
