.FROM FR. KUNKEL
Today, in a special prayer to the Holy Spirit, the
Church asks for her people, “Give them the joys that never
end.” Like any good parent, she wants us to have what will
make us truly happy. At Baptism and Confirmation, you
received the same Holy Spirit who descended upon the
apostles in the form of tongues of fire at the first Pentecost.
You too have been changed forever by the power of the Holy
Spirit.
Today, we celebrate and give thanks for the power of
the Holy Spirit! And we must never forget, the word
“Apostle” means “one who is sent.” As Christ’s Apostles in
today’s world, we are sent out on a ministry of loving service.
We are sent out into the world of trials and tribulations in
order to make a difference there. This is the means by which
our world, today, is drawn to Christ! We are the means by
which the world is drawn to Christ! In his book, “How To
Live Between Office Visits,” the widely read author, Dr.
Bernie Siegel, quotes from a participant in one of his
workshops:
“If you want to be happy for an hour, take a nap.
If you want to be happy for a day, go fishing.
If you want to be happy for a month. inherit a fortune.
If you want to be happy for a year, take a round-the-world
cruise.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime, do something good for
some else!”
It is important that we allow the Holy Spirit to breathe
new life into us so that God’s purpose may be fulfilled in us!
In the ups and downs of witnessing to the power of God at
work in Christ may our prayer be that our eyes might be
opened to give us a new vision. May we see and truly share in
Jesus the hope of heavenly glory.

ELECTION PRAYER BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.
PSALMS 46:10
Dear Beloved God in Heaven:
Please give us a president that loves this country and
everything it stands for.
Please give us a president who respects you as the one true
God.
Please give us a president who will, with your help, restore
this nation to its former glory, the way You created her.
Please help us to respect what You have given to us and not
take anything for granted ever again.
Please God, weaken the evil and strengthen and the good,
both within and without.
May our eyes be open In Jesus’ name Amen.
Friends, please forward this prayer to all of your fellow
Christians and urge them to pray the prayer, & then pass it
on.
As never before in the history of this country has this plea
been so vital.
In God We Trust!!! God Bless America!!!
RESPECT LIFE
St. Mary’s Respect Life Ministry has placed the 7th “Little
One” poster in the vestibule of the church. Please read the
text, look at the beautiful drawing of a pre-born baby at this
age and continue to pray for your personal Little One!
Seventh Month (size: about 15 inches)
Beginning this month the baby uses all four senses. His
eyelids open and close, and the eyes look around. The baby
can taste, touch, cough, yawn and hiccup. He now recognizes
his mother’s voice. His grip is even stronger now than it will
be after his birth. The hair on his head is growing longer and
the downy covering on the rest of his body is disappearing.
During this time the baby will receive antibodies from his
mother providing him immunity to a wide variety of diseases.

LIVING ROSARY Come out to the Knights of Columbus
Living Rosary on May 23rd
at 7 p.m. It is
truly a beautiful service. The Knights are
challenging the parishioners of St. Mary’s.
The Knights want to get one person for every bead on the
rosary. Are you up to the challenge? So if you have never
attended please come out, and if you have attended bring a
friend. Let’s make this the largest Living rosary we have ever
had!
CEMETERY TOMBSTONES You may have noticed the orange tape
around some of the tombstones in the
older section of the cemetery. These
stones are very old and are starting to
deteriorate by cracking at the base and
on the stone. Some stones have even
fallen off the base. Also some are
leaning due to the fact a foundation was not used at that time.
The tombstones maintenance and repair is the responsibility of
the family not the parish. However, since some of these
stones are dated back to the 1800’s we feel the parish will take
responsibility of repairing them. Our plan is to take the stone
off the base, remove the base, put down a foundation and lay
the stone flat on the foundation. The stones leaning, if
possible, will be straightened.
If there is a family member and the family wants to take the
responsibility of correcting the issue please contact Barbara,
EXT 22 or [email protected], immediately. We
are now beginning to do the repairs.
ONE LINERS FOR ELECTION YEAR
Why pay money to have your family tree traced; go into
politics and your opponents will do it for you
-Author unknown-
Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and
campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each
from the other.
-Oscar Ameringer-
I offer my opponents a bargain: if they will stop telling lies
about us, I will stop telling the truth about them.
-Adlai Stevenson, 1952-
A politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his
country.
-Tex Guinan-
I have come to the conclusion that politics is too serious a
matter to be left to the politicians.
-Charles de Gaulle-
Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city, it might be
better to change the locks.
-Doug Larson-
There ought to be one day – just one – when there is open
season on Congressmen.
-Will Rogers-
VOTE ANYWAY!!
IT’S OUR RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE!
