Today’s readings celebrate God’s providence. No matter how wonderful (or heartbreaking) our relationships are, God always provides for us. No one cares for us the way God does. Isaiah delights us with a deeply intimate image of God caring for us “as a mother comforts her child.” The prophet describes us not as the usual “children of God,” but as “babies.” We should not resist this image, but rejoice in it. Trusting in God’s care, we can all let down our guard and rest like infants in the lap of our mother. Saint Paul’s trust in God allows him to be at peace like this. He boldly declares that no one can “make troubles” for him, because he has given himself completely to Jesus. And when Jesus sends his disciples out to preach and heal, he challenges them not to provide for themselves, but to let faith be their guide. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT July 7, 2019
In today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus invi ng his disciples to be evangelizers. “The harvest is abundant,” Jesus says. But those who are willing to invite others to a deeper
rela onship with the Lord are few. Good stewards who are willing to witness their Catholic faith to others know
they are “like lambs among wolves.” They are encouraged to be gentle, pa ent and loving, knowing
they may face rejec on and even fierce opposi on. Jesus invites us to be be er stewards of our faith, to give
posi ve, courageous, joyful witness to others who have turned away from their rela onship with him.
Is there someone we should be reaching out to this week?

We are always in need of volunteers, especially on the 3rd Thursday of the month, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. to help unload food
items from truck.
Almsgiving is simply an expression of our gratitude for all that God has given us, and a realization that as a member of a
community of faith, it is never just about “me and God.”
