    Masks for Mates

    P2/N95 Cover Mask Sewing Instructions

Acknowledgement: Masks for Mates wish to give full acknowledgement to Jessica Nandino for this pattern. 1

We have adapted the pattern to metric for use in Australia. There are also some minor simplifications to the instructions.

Safety Disclaimer and liability statement: The Masks for Mates Project acknowledges that ‘A protective mask may reduce the likelihood of infection, but it will not eliminate the risk….An improvised face mask should be viewed as the last possible alternative if a supply of commercial face masks is not available, irrespective of the disease against which it may be required for protection.’ (Davies et al, Disaster Med Public Health Preparedness. 2013; 7:413-418).

By making masks we are trying to relieve the pressure on the shortage of the P2/N95 masks so they can be kept for use in high risk situations during this COVID-19 pandemic. The improvised masks, caps and other PPE made by the Masks for Mates have not been industry tested or approved. There is no guarantee that using them will prevent infection.

We will supply fresh clean masks however sterilisation of masks is the responsibility of the recipient.
