Orchestra Notes: Thank you to those of you that participated in the Poinsettia Orchestra Fundraiser! I hope they bring you holiday happiness! The first orchestra concert of the school year will be Wednesday, December 20th at 6:30 pm at Mary Endres in the gym. This is a combined concert with Greenwood students in orchestra. The 4th and 5th grade orchestras will be performing. Students should arrive at 6:10 to get tuned and ready to perform. 4th graders should dress nicely, and 5th graders can wear their orchestra t-shirts from last year! Look for reminders in your student's music folder. I look forward to seeing you at the concert! Mrs. Blaho [email protected]

A special thanks to parents who have purchased art from ArtSonia.com with the funds I was able to purchase 30 student sets of oil pastels.

It’s Your Child’s Birthday! If you would like your child to celebrate at school, please bring small treats. We prefer healthy, non-sugary treats since mini cupcakes or cookies can cause hyperactivity. Also, we cannot accommodate big quantities, items with prep work or multiple treats, as time does not allow for longer celebrations. Teachers will pass out treats at the end of an activity or while an activity is going on to limit celebrations to a few minutes . Birthdays that fall during summer break will be celebrated on the student’s half birthday. (example: June 10th would be announced on December 10th) Birthdays that fall on a non-attendance day will be celebrated the day before.

GOOGLE AUGMENTED REALITY Google came to Mary Endres and previewed their new augmented reality app with all of the students. In this picture, students are looking at a beating heart that appears in the middle of the room. They are able to travel inside it to see the vessels and chambers.

Physical Education During the month of December, Mary Endres students will continue to work on health and fitness lessons/activities. We have been using pedometers during class and the students have been having so much fun with these. Our goal during class is to get 2000 steps and several of our students are meeting this goal. We are also learning about body composition, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, flexibility, and muscular strength. Students will be learning about these through our SPARK lessons which include aerobic games, fitness challenges, and fitness circuits.

Let Me Run 5K--2017 On November 2, the Let Me Run team completed a 5K run to conclude their season. Let Me Run is open to boys in 4th and 5th grades and includes goal setting, character lessons, and running activities. We wanted to congratulate all the boys on a GREAT season and a fantastic final run. It was a pleasure coaching you this season! We wish our 5th graders well in middle school next year and we hope to see our 4th graders back on the team in fall 2018! ~Coach Creighton, Coach Parpart, Coach Rodolfo, & Coach Waldack

Officer Gustis holds the mic while a student reads her D.A.R.E. essay aloud. Congrats to our fifth graders on a successful D.A.R.E. Graduation Day!
