“Come see what the thirteen colonies

have to offer you!” Colonial America is a time that provides many new and exciting opportunities for the Europeans. People are hearing about America and are taking risks to come and settle in these new colonies. This land is divided into three colonial regions:

 New England Colonies ( Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine)Middle Colonies (New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware)

You are to make travel brochures advertising your colony to the Europeans of the late 1600’s. (Info from 1650-1750)

Process 1. Research your colony using the selected websites, and your social

studies book . 2. Use the “Colony “research organizer to record and organize your

findings. 3. After you are done researching your colony, you will record your

findings. 4. You will research the topics listed on the graphic organizer on the

web sites provided, your textbook and other resources you deem necessary.

5. Students will complete the graphic organizer and use the information to create a brochure that will persuade others to settle in your colony. So make it look appealing!

6. Use the rubric to help you guide and evaluate your project.

Conclusion After completing this project on the 13 colonies

students will be knowledgeable about their colony and know the similarities and differences of the New England, Middle, and Southern regions of the 13 colonies. They will discover the reasons why colonists chose particular areas to settle such as available jobs, religion, climate, natural resources, and government comparing and contrasting the three different colonial regions, students will have gained a better understanding of the positive and negative aspects of each colony and region.
