Marrero v City of Miami Complaint

8

description

Two individuals were taken off an American Airlines flight and then taken into custody by Miami Police at the airport (outside their jurisdiction) taken to police headquarters for interrogation and were deprived of $18,000.00 in currency and personal effects by two City of Miami Police Detectives. The interesting thing is they were never given a property receipt for the money and even more interesting is the detectives refused to identify themselves at any time. The incident was reported to Internal Affairs and the FBI (potential civil rights violation) and they haven't done shit. To date, they have failed to produce the property receipt. The subjects were never arrested or charged with a crime and the police never instituted forfeiture proceedings against the money.
