Marlboro Youth Baseball & Softball Manager's Requirements Meeting Attendance Required to attend "3" meetings per year Required Meetings Must attend "1" general meeting Must attend nomination of Officers for the following season Must attend election of officers for the following season If you cannot attend a meeting you must have a coach present to represent the team and notify the Division Director. League Rules & Policies Inform & enforce all league rules, general & safety. Certification Coaches Certification as required by Babe Ruth Babe Ruth League; See Certification Requirement Game / Practice Attendance Must attend a minimum of 75% of all games & practices. Coaching Clinics Must attend designated clinics. Practices Must schedule and conduct a minimum of "7" practices for the season "4" of the practices must be preseason All practices must be scheduled through the League Director / Scheduler Equipment Must return all league equipment, including keys, by date determined by the league. Immediately notify Division Director of an any damaged or lost equipment. Equipment inventory. Red Books Must be at all team practices and games and returned with equipment. Field Maintenance Field Maintenance including pre-season, in season & post season. Ensure that all fields have been groomed and all MYB&S equipment/buildings have been secured after each practice and game. Ensure clean up of dug out & bleacher areas of trash after all games & practices. Conduct Any manager whose conduct is deemed detrimental to the league, can and will be removed from their position. Any manager who is ejected from a game will be immediately suspended from the league. The MYB&S Council will review the case and render a decision on length of suspension. Failure to adhere to these requirements can result in forfeiture of your managing / coaching privilege for current and / or future seasons.

Required Managers / Coaches Certification

At the beginning of the 2008 season, Babe Ruth League and Ripken Baseball establisheda leadership role in youth baseball and Softball by requiring all rostered coaches andmanagers to gain certification. More than 100,000 coaches have been through theprogram, helping to ensure our kids receive the best sport experience possible.

Marlboro Youth Baseball and Softball stands behind this requirement and will beverifying certification for all managers and coaches. Applicants who are selected tomanage or coach will be required to be certified prior to the start of the season. Only onecertification is required, Baseball or softball, Level 1 or Advanced level and certificationis good for life.

Building on this momentum, Babe Ruth League and Ripken Baseball, in conjunction withcoaching education partner American Sport Education Program (ASEP), have introducedtwo advanced courses for baseball and softball coaches:

• Coaching Advanced Baseball: The Ripken Way for Baseball Coaches $24.95• Coaching Advanced Softball: The Ripken Way for Softball Coaches $24.95

• Advanced training on the technical and tactical skills of baseball and softball.• An additional certification option particularly appealing to experienced coaches.• For coaches who've taken the Coaching Youth Baseball or Softball course and are

looking to enhance their coaching skills.

Which course is right for you?

Coaches with no prior experience are encouraged to take the Coaching Youth Baseball:These courses provide essential information for the first-time coach on such topics asdeveloping a coaching philosophy; communicating with players, officials, and parents;and managing a team.

The Coaching Advanced Baseball and Softball courses are designed primarily forexperienced coaches who need to be certified. The advanced courses are also aimed atBabe Ruth League and Ripken Baseball coaches who completed the Coaching YouthBaseball or Softball course to achieve certification and are now looking to further theirdevelopment as coaches.
