What's the best thing about Mark?Nicky: "He's really quiet and doesn't open up to you unless he really knows you. Mark's a very private person, but when hegets into one of his mischevious moods then there's no stopping him." Shane: ""He's got a really great personality but although he's all quiet when your haveing a conversation he'll listen tillthe end and then he'll just chip in something hilarious at the end."

What's his worst habit?Bryan: "He farts on photoshoots so be warned Mizz! Oh, and he's useless at getting out of bed in the morning-in fact, I'venever met anyone who's so bad. We'll be leaving at 8am and he'll still be in bed at 7.55am. He's a nightmare!"

Kian on Mark

Mark is very shy and reserved and quite a private person. He likes his privacy more than anyone else in the band. As a result,I've never really seen him down. He doesn't show his feelings to us and he'll go to his room and ring his mum rather thantalk to us. He just likes to keep a little bit of distance when it comes to personal things.

We spend a lot of time together and, at some point, I've seen all the other guys in tearsbut never Mark, not even behind closeddoors.

His grandfather died when he was in America and even then he didn't show us much of his feelings. He just wanted to go andring his mum and talk to her and his friends back home. He likes to keep that side of his life to himself. I don't think that'sa bad thing, it's just his personality and we respect that 100 per cent.

Despite being shy, Mark is actually one of the funniest in the band and he loves to party more than any of us. He's always

up for a night out, going out to clubs and meeting girls. He doesn't want to be tied down, he reckons he's too young.

Shane on Mark

Mark will definitely be the last person in the band to settle down and get married. He doesn't like staying with one girl,he likes to enjoy himself. He really loves going out on the town to different clubs and meeting a different girl every night.

He was seeing a model recently but I think that was just for a couple of weeks. He's the youngest and I don't think he's lookingfor a relationship - he likes being free to concentrate on his music.

Mark is the quietest and likes to do his own thing but he's probably the funniest of all of us. He's the first to finish apunchline and he's great at taking the mickey or doing impressions of people. Every half an hour he cracks a serious joke.

Mark is very devoted to his family. His grandfather passed away recently and he was really upset about that. He also getsupset when he leaves his mum but I'm like that too. I can't say goodbye to my mum without crying. She always cries and I can'tstand to see her in tears, so that sets me off.

Mark sleeps more than anyone else in the band. He could sleep on a brick but he always dribbles out of the side of his mouthwhen he's doing it, which doesn't look very nice!

Bryan on Mark

Mark and I share a similar attitude to being in Westlife and I'm probably closest to him out of all the band. We'll all goout together on a Saturday night but, during the week, me and Mark go out on our own. The rest of the lads are much more seriousand Mark likes to relax a bit more. He's more chilled out about work. For example, if I swore on TV, the rest of the bandwould be really upset about it but Mark would be more understanding.

Mark was the first person I told that I was going out with Kerry. He was really pleased for me, whereas the other guys weretelling me that it wasn't good for my image. They liked her but they thought fans would hate her because she was going outwith one of Westlife and that they'd hate me for having a girlfriend. They're fine now but Mark understood from the start.

Everyone thinks he's shy but he's the most likely one of us to chat up a girl in anightclub.

Although he's great fun, Mark is a very sensible and organised person. He's the opposite to me in that respect. My view isthat you should live life to the full - after all, you could get knocked down by a bus tomorrow.

I spend every penny I make and, if I end up with nothing when Westlife finish, then so be it. But Mark likes to save his money.All the band are pretty tight with their money compared to me but Mark is probably the worst!

Nicky on Mark

Mark is the deceptive one. When I first met him he wouldn't say boo to a goose and he wouldn't open his heart out to any ofus, but when you get to know him you discover the boy is really mad!

Sometimes we have to do a day of solid interviews from nine in the morning to nine at night and he'll just get so fed up answeringthe same questions hour after hour that he starts making things up.

He doesn't do it in England or Ireland because he'll get found out, but when he's in a foreign country it's different. Weall do it a bit but Mark is the worst. The code phrase is: "This one time in Cyprus..." and then he'll start to tell thisunbelievable story. None of us has ever even been to Cyprus but he tells it like it's really happened, we're all in stitchesand none of the interviewers can work out why.

Mark also lies about his age when he's chatting up girls. He's only 20 but sometimes in a club if he's with a girl who's abit older, he'll turn to me and say in Irish: "I'm 23 by the way". We always speak in Irish when we don't want people to knowwhat we're saying!

What's the best thing about Shane?Kian: " He's the most easy-going one in the band. He's sensible, but enjoys a laugh as well." Nicky: "He's the most perfect singer I've ever heard. He learns form our manager Ronan Keating, and you can't have a betterteacher than that!" Bryan: "He's very encouraging and before we go on stage he makes sure we all know what we're doing - he's very motivating."

What's his worst habit?Nicky: "he doesn't pay attention all the time - it's not that he's ignoring you, but it's like he's in another world."

What does he worry about? Bryan: "I don't think that Shane worries about anything - he's so positive about everything and that's great for the restof us."

What makes him blush? Mark: "If he ever hits a wrong note which is very rare."

Is he free with money or a bit of a meanie? Nicky: "He does spend it, but he's not too free with it - he's sensible."

Bryan on Shane

Shane is a choirboy in public - very shy and reserved - but once you get him behind closed doors with a few beers in him he's quite a different person.

He's got a unique taste in women. He loves tarty girls with big boobs, long legs, short skirts and high heels. I don't think we'll ever get him to settle down with a nice, normal girl like I've done, he really likes his sexy girls.

Shane is a real dreamer and it's very hard to get his attention. He's very even tempered and rarely gets upset or down. He's the only one in the group that I've never seen cry.

But he can be such a bore and often stays in on his own. It's pure laziness - he'd rather stay in and have steak and chips - that's all he ever eats - and watch a video than come out with the four of us.

He's always the last to get up in the morning and he's last to go out at night.

I think Shane is the most likely out of all of us to go on and have a successful solo career. He's got such a great voice, I think he'll be the next George Michael.

Nicky on Shane

Shane is great and we get on very well, we have a good laugh and he can take a joke.

He's pretty cool and very popular with the girls, but he can be quite vain, particularly about his hair. He can't pass a mirror without looking into it. He's quite into clothes, too, but he's got the worst fashion sense out of the whole band. He doesn't have a clue.

We're always warning him the fashion police will be after him, so when he arrives in the morning in a dodgy outfit we pretend to go over and handcuff him. He'll happily wear white socks and shoes and jeans and bright coloured trousers that don't match his shirt.

But the worst ever was when we were in Tenerife to shoot the If I Let You Go video. We had a day off beforehand and were all down at the pool. He came down in a vest, really short shorts, flip-flops with socks, a bum bag tied to his waist - and a pair of shades. He just looked like a typical tourist, but the worst thing was he thought he looked really cool. It was terrible!

Mark on Shane

With Shane, his character very much depends on his mood. If he's in a good mood he can be absolutely hilarious, but if he's not he just doesn't want to know.

His biggest fault is that he's downright lazy. I was once at his house in Sligo and he had a video that was due back.The video store is 50 metres away, but he still got in his car and drove there.

It's the same with his mobile phone. If his phone is in his bag on the other side of the room, he'll ask to borrow my phone rather than bother to get up and fetch his bag.

But he's a very generous person and he's very fast to buy a round of drinks. If we go into a bar for just one drink, Shane will always be the one to pay. He's quite happy to spend his money. He's not as extravagant as Kian when it comes to shopping, but he does enjoy it and he gets quite choosy about the clothes he wears.

I'll always ask Shane for advice on anything because there's a mutual respect. He's helped me out a few times and we've got a lot of time for each other, especially when it comes to singing. Shane is so talented. I'm convinced music will always be part of his life.

Bryan has a 24-hour battery. He's always good-humoured, always singing, always acting. He's always telling jokes, he's got a great heart.

He has us crying with laughter at times and never gets embarrassed. He'll pull his trousers down in the middle of anywhere, just for a laugh, knowing it'll amuse us all.

When he was on holiday on the Costa del Sol this summer, he dressed up in his girlfriend Kerry's clothes. It was a competition in a club and you had to swap clothes with your partner. I wouldn't do that but he doesn't care.

Bryan's not good at being on his own. He gets lonely and sad if he's in his room too long. He's not good at being away from home for long periods, either. When he was on tour in America, in the summer, he got sick and had to go home. He was mentally exhausted. He misses the normal world if he's away from it for too long.

Bryan is very bubbly and lively but he's also sensitive if you're having problems. Nine months ago, I broke up with a girl. We were away from home at the time and I was pretty

upset and he wouldn't leave me on my own until I was so tired that I was falling asleep. He spreads happiness very easily.

One thing we have in common is that we're both really soppy. We cry our eyes out over sad movies, especially The Champ. We're the worst in the band for that.

Shane on Bryan

Bryan is a funny fella and always up for a laugh but there's another, more sensitive side to him that people rarely get to see. He was really close to one of his mother's friends, she was a neighbour and was like a second mum to him and she died tragically of cancer last year.

He was in tears and very sad about it for a couple of weeks. He's actually quite a sensitive guy underneath all the energy and it hit him hard.

When Bryan has a problem, he can talk to me about it and I always talk to him when I'm down - he's a person who really listens and really understands.

A few months back, on tour in America, I got really homesick and I wanted to go back and see my family. I remember I sat down one afternoon with Bryan and said: "I need to go home and see my mum and have a chat with my dad". He talked me through it and helped me get over it.

If I'd been on my own, I would probably have just quit and gone home but Bryan really supported me.

He's definitely the maddest one. He'll buy something and then decide later if he likes it. In Australia, he spent pounds 500 on an electric scooter and he broke it after three days. And in Los Angeles he spent pounds 300 on a Pink Panther shirt.

He's also got dreadful taste in undies. He always wears funny boxer shorts. He can be wearing white trousers and he'll have this pair of bright red silk boxers covered in teddies underneath that show right through. He looks ridiculous but he'll be as proud as hell.

Nicky on Bryan

Bryan can be so funny. The Against All Odds video we did with Mariah Carey earlier this year had to be re-made because Bryan was staring at her breasts. It was at the end of the video and we were all meant to be looking straight ahead at the camera but the finished version shows Bryan's eyes clearly looking down towards her breasts.

Because it's in slow motion it's really obvious, so they had to alter his eyes on the computer to hide it. But nobody noticed until it had already been sent to a few places, so there are a few original versions out there. To be fair, I think we all did it - he's the only one who got caught!

Bryan's worst fault is that's he's very disorganised. We all travel the world with a suitcase

each but Bryan needs three or four, simply because he doesn't fold his clothes to fit them in.

Once we were in Taiwan waiting to leave a hotel and Bryan told us he couldn't close one of his cases.

We went upstairs and all five of us had to sit on it to shut it. When our tour manager came to check we'd not left anything behind he found another 25 outfits in a wardrobe that Bryan had totally forgotten about, so we had to buy another case to fit them in!

Mark on Bryan

Bryan is an extremely outgoing person, he'll walk up to absolutely anybody and start talking. He'll knock on a star's dressing room door and get their phone number and a night out organised.

In the early days of the band, we were at a party with the Spice Girls. We weren't that well known but he walked right over to Emma and started a conversation.

He's very kind and always stands up for the underdog. Once, I was having an argument with the other three about a dance routine and he sided with me - even though he didn't agree with me. He didn't like me being outnumbered.

He's the wildest of the band. Last week we were staying in London and his room was so dirty that the staff refused to clean it.

He travels with eight suitcases and it looked like someone had thrown the contents all around the room. Every bit of floor space was covered with clothes, they were even on top of the TV. And there were drink cartons, magazines, newspapers, pizza boxes, sweet and chocolate wrappers all over.

He was upset about the cleaners but I don't blame them - it was a disgrace.

Kian on Nicky

Nicky's got lots of phobias. He gets scared in lifts and he doesn't like small spaces. We can't resist teasing him, we doit all the time. We'll get in a lift with him and jump up and down to make it move or pretend it's broken. He really freaksand if the lift gets crowded, he starts pleading with people to get out. I'm just in tears

laughing at him.

He worries about mobile phones and bought an earpiece in case they give you cancer. He's frightened of flying and he's gotall these strange superstitions. He insists on ringing every person he knows just before they get on a plane and again oncethey've landed.

Nicky's very committed to the band and feels strongly about things. He's very headstrong. If he makes a point and then realiseshe's wrong, he'll still argue that he's right.

This week, we were discussing whether to do a new dance routine on a TV show next week. The rest of us thought we should waitbecause we didn't know it well enough but he was determined that we go ahead. He kept saying: "We have to do it, we have todo it."

I reckon Nicky's most likely to get married first. He's been with his girlfriend for six years. They really love each otherand he's very lucky in that respect.

Shane on Nicky

Nicky's a top guy and the person I talk to the most. We have a similar personality, the same taste in cars and girls.

If I meet a girl and I've been out with her a few times, I'll always ask Nicky for his opinion. He's good at spotting girlsfor me, too.

Both of us like very sexy girls with long legs and high heels and when we're out he'll say: "Shane, you'll like her over there"and I won't have noticed her. Or he'll be sitting at the bar chatting to a girl and shout: "Come over here Shane, there'ssomeone you should meet." He's nearly always right - he's matched me up with a girl a few times!

Nicky is definitely the most daring when it comes to fashion. He bought a pounds 1,500 pair of sky blue leather trousers recently.And he always wears these stupid, lucky Irish green socks. He's got about 10 pairs, all covered in shamrocks.

But he has a sensitive side, too. His cousin died in a car accident a year ago and he was very upset about it. We were inMexico and he wanted to go home so badly he was freaking out, but he couldn't. That was so hard for him.

It's very easy to hurt Nicky's feelings, he's very sensitive and if you are having a real row and make a personal remark hegets hurt. If someone says I'm fat, then it doesn't bother me but if someone said something like that to Nicky, he'd get angry.

He's definitely the vainest in the group. He's always looking in the mirror and he's got the worst fashion sense! He's a realGucci head - he loves his designer labels.

He can be really funny at times. We were on tour in Asia and we were driving past the rice fields. There were hundreds ofpeople wearing traditional hats, bending over working and Nicky wound down the window and shouted: "Keep going guys, you'llfind that tenner soon!" I was in stitches, it was the funniest thing I've ever heard Nicky say.

Nicky is probably the most settled in the band. He's been with his girlfriend Georgina Aherne, the daughter of Irish PrimeMinister Bertie Aherne, for six years.

Having said that, I still don't think he'll be the first of us to marry. He's pretty sensible, whereas everything I do inlife is on impulse. I don't usually think about things and I make mistakes all the time. When this band finishes and we gooff to start new lives, I reckon I'll be first to announce I'm getting married.

Mark on Nicky

Nicky's the most romantic one of us all. He was once away for Valentine's Day and both he and his girlfriend Georgina werebitterly disappointed that they weren't going to see each other.

He never said anything to her but he flew back to Ireland and, when she was in the shower, he sneaked into her house and wentup to her bedroom and filled it with balloons.

So when she came back into the room all upset that she wasn't going to see her boyfriend, there he was lying on the bed witha box of chocolates!

It's one of the most romantic things I've ever heard of and I've always wished the story was about me and that I'd done itfor a girlfriend of mine.

Nicky is quite sensible and mature normally but he's definitely got a wild streak and he

changes the most in drink.

When's he's got a few beers in him, he gets very brave. He'll come up and give you a punch on the jaw just to be friendly.He thinks he's being playful but it really hurts.

I think out of all of us Nicky was meant to be famous. He missed out on playing football for Leeds United because they droppedhim when he was 16. He was destined to be a star.

What's the best thing about Kian? Nicky: "He's a really give-and-take guy- he'll sit and talk to you about anything. He's always got time for people." Bryan: "He's the big smoocher of the band and he'll always have a chat with the ladies-I don't think he'll ever get marriedbecause he wouldn't be able to stick with just one girl."

What's his worst habit? Nicky: "he's the one that our manager Loius or our record company get in contact with when they need to speak to the band.So his phone is always red hot and he'll snap at you because he feels the pressure a bit too much sometimes." Bryan: "Yeah, he can be quick to jump down your throat, but if i always had management hassling me then i'd probably jumpdown everybody'd throats too!"

What does he worry about? Nicky: "He probably worrie about what the management are going to say if we've done something wrong because it's him thatgets hasseled."

What makes him blush? Nicky: "Probably when you mention Britney Spears. He can't wait to meet her."

Is he free with money or a bit of a meanie?Mark: "He minds his money-he makes sure he's got enough to get by. But he's generous as well." Nicky: "He's financially careful, but he does end up spending all his money on phone bills!"

Bryan on Kian

Kian is the sort of guy who prefers lying on the couch with a girl and cuddling up with a video to an all-night sex romp. We're very similar when it comes to relationships, both romantic and sensitive. Neither of us likes playing the field. We prefer a serious relationship with someone we really like.

The other guys are always talking about whether a girl's got big boobs or long legs but it matters more to Kian whether she's cute and cuddly.

When Kian and I broke up with our girlfriends, we kind of gelled. Now if I have problems with my girlfriend - Kerry Katona, from Atomic Kitten - Kian is the person I go to.

Kian is a really nice guy but he's not perfect. He's hot-tempered and grumpy in the morning. Every day he loses his temper.

And he's not really a funny guy, he doesn't tell jokes like some of the others. He's straight down the middle, works hard and does things by the book. He likes everything to run smoothly and is always trying to keep the rest of us in line.

Nicky on Kian

Kian is the most serious in the band and the most passionate about what we do. He always seems to have a point to make. He's thinking about Westlife all the time but the other side of it is that he has a fiery temper. He'll lose his head and start swearing but then we all swear. Spend an hour with us and a swear box and you'd be rich!

I remember one occasion and we'd been at a party all night. We'd literally had 20 minutes sleep and we got on a plane from East Germany to Amsterdam. Everyone was conked out on the flight but our tour manager woke up and took Kian's watch from his wrist without him noticing.

When Kian got off the plane, he realised it had gone and because he'd been drunk he couldn't remember when he'd last seen it. He'd spent pounds 2,500 on it and it wasn't insured. He was just about to bawl his eyes out when the tour manager gave it back tohim.

If that was me, I would have been so relieved that I would have given the guy a hug but Kian was the opposite and was really annoyed. He freaked out and started shouting at him: "Don't you ever do that to me again". He'll look back on it now and think it was hilarious, but he wasn't happy at the time!

Shane on Kian

Kian can be quite emotional. I remember him breaking up with a girl when he was 16 and he got quite upset. They'd been together a year and she broke it off because she thought it wasn't working, but he wasn't expecting it, so he was in tears. I did my best to help him - I took him out to discos to take his mind off it.

He's single at the moment - with a girl in every port - but he really fancies Britney Spears. He fancies a lot of people but Britney is definitely top of the list. He can be pretty romantic - good at getting the roses and going out for dinner and all that kind of stuff.

He's a real schmoozer, he knows what he's doing.

Kian knows all our weak spots and when we're giving each other stick. He knows how to wind us up. It can be real below the belt stuff.

I'm not very good at understanding jokes, so sometimes I laugh to go along with it but he picks up on it. He'll say: "What about that, Filan, do you get that one?" and, if I say yes, he

makes me explain it to everyone and of course I can't.

Kian is easy to talk to and he works extremely hard. When everyone's tired, he's the one who gets us up in the morning and gees us all up.

Mark on Kian

Kian's the serious one. He's always on the phone sorting out our business deals.

He's very protective of us all, too. A couple of times we've been out the night before a big TV show and had a few drinks and it's got back to the management. Kian will really defend us. He also covers if we're late for appointments.

Kian is the biggest shopper in the band. He'll pay pounds 2,000 for a pair of trousers. I could never do that.

He went mad in Beverly Hills recently and came back to the hotel with loads of shopping bags. He bought three or four jackets costing pounds 1,000 each.

I'm sure Kian will be a manager. In a really short period he's learnt an awful lot about the music world. He can be very businesslike but when we were touring America for two and a half months, he got stressed out like the rest of us.

We were travelling every single day and it became so repetitive. Even though we were getting to see America and performing in front of thousands of people, it really got to him. He was very down and simply couldn't wait to get home, like all of us.
