Imagine for Design #1

Idea # 1

Our materials are we used cotton for one side. We also used newspaper for the bottom . And we also used light cloth to put it on one side.

We need 3 units.

The advantage of this idea is it will warm up a little bit faster. And they are not going to hurt the environment.

The disadvantage of this idea is that it will probably burn to much.

Create for Design #1

Our heat score is our solar oven maximum temperature subtracted from the control oven: 60°c -55 = 5

Our time score is the number of minutes it took to cool down which was 3 minutes.

Our total impact score was 6 points.

Our total score for the solar oven is 2.

Improve for Design #1

The total score for our first solar oven was 2.

The parts of our solar oven design that work well were the cotton and the cloth because helped a little to heat it up faster.

The parts of our solar oven design that did not work well were the newspaper because did not worked well for the project.

We are going to try to improve our Heat Score Time Score Impact Score.

We will improve our Heat Score Time ScoreImpact Score by using different materials like dark cloth , foam and cotton because it will help get a high score.

Our heat score is our solar oven maximum temperature subtracted from the control oven: 52-53=-1

Our time score is the number of minutes it took to cool down which was 3 minutes.

Our total impact score was 11 points.

Our new total score for the solar oven is -1+3=-9

ReflectionOur improve design did not work well because we didn't have a good insulator. The materials we changed were cloth & the newspaper. The materials were poor insulator because the cloth it was to light for the project and it didn't warm up so the cloth needed to be darker.

If we could improve again, we would change the materials because the materials were bad insulators or maybe because the ruler felt a lot of times which closed our box.

In the first design the highest temperature was 59.7°c and the second time with our improved design we got 52.1°c.
