LOUDOUN TIMES-MIRROR | FEBRUARY 7, 2020 17 OBITUARIES Harry Craig “Craig” Murto Harry “Craig” Murto, 60, of Linden, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, Jan- uary 30, 2020, at Blue Ridge Hospice In- patient Care Center. A Mass of Christian burial took place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 120 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia. Mr. Murto was born on January 10, 1960, in Washington, D.C., to the late Harry Claire Murto and Antonia Marie Strauss Murto. Mr. Murto owned, edited and pub- lished “Late Model Racer” magazine and was a member of the radio broadcast team of “In the Pits.” He was an avid gui- tar player and lover of heavy metal music, avid cat lover and wrote a weekly racing column in the Northern Virginia Daily. He was donned the “Best Looking Mustache” in motor sports. Surviving, along with his mother are his wife of 26 years, Margaret “Meg” Murto, are three stepdaughters, Sasha Alas (Armando), Katie Morris and Emily Ferguson (Brandon); two brothers, Keith Murto and Eric Murto (Christina); grand- daughter, Clare Alas; and stepgrandson, Kayden Ferguson; his cat, Buddy; and nu- merous nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Mad- dox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal. In lieu of fowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Warren County, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, Virginia 22630. Margaret, who was known to most people as “Peggy,” was born in Ports- mouth, Virginia, on May 2, 1942. She was the daughter of Robert Hendren Waldo and Margaret Irving Waldo. Peggy graduated from Churchland High School in 1960 and received her un- dergraduate degree from Longwood Uni- versity in physical education. She played basketball and feld hockey and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta so- rority while at Longwood. Peggy’s professional career ranged from physical education teacher to medical assistant to ofce assistant at her beloved Aldrin Elementary school. All of which had a common thread of helping others. Peggy was the epitome of loyalty and altruism. She was a devoted mother, wife, and friend. She volunteered countless hours helping her community. She was a longtime member of the Loudoun Hos- pital Ladies Board, where she worked tirelessly each year during the infamous rummage sale. She worked with Loudoun Breast Health Network and Loudoun Na- ture Conservancy. Peggy enjoyed socializing with her book clubs, bridge group, water aerobics friends, and recently the Great Expec- tations Group. She enjoyed dining with friends and especially happy hour. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandma. She leaves her family to cherish her memory, including her three children, David Fera of New Orleans, LA, Shaun Fera of Henrico, VA and her husband James Beazley, and Julia Tracy of Harpers Ferry, WV and her husband Lloyd Tracy. She had fve grandchildren, Margaret and Walter Beazley, as well as Lloyd, Emerson, and Corrigan Tracy. She is also survived by her sister, Anne Barbour Schwab or Ports- mouth, Va, and brother, Robert Hendren Waldo Jr. of Lake Frederick and his wife Ruth Waldo.
