MATTHEW KELLY: DECISION POINT
First Session is June 13. Monday Evening, 6:30—8:00
Ever get off the main road and find yourself making turns you’re not sure you really want to take?
With all the challenges facing the world today, our Catholic faith is more important than ever. Yet sadly we have seen people walk away from the faith. The tragedy is that most of them have never had the “genius of Catholicism” presented to them in a compelling way.
Every day we are called to make decisions for ourselves and our families. God has given us the treasure of the Catholic faith to help us make those decisions. The more we can learn about the truth of the Catholic faith, the better we are prepared to make the right decisions.
LIFE IS CHOICES!
Life is made up of choices and they matter a great deal. Throughout our journey together we are going to face many decision points. They matter. They may not seem like life-or-death decisions, but some are. Jesus said, “I have come so that you may have life, and have it to the fullest.” God will not force fullness of life on us. He allows us to use his gift of free will to live a shallow and empty life if that is what we choose. Just as Moses asked the Israelites to choose between life or death, prosperity or adversity, we also face a choice be-tween the life that Jesus promises and the life the secular world is offering. Many different versions of that choice appear before us each day as we deal with the moral issues in our lives.
If we want a full life, we need to find the best way to live our lives. We do this by developing habits of virtue to replace bad habits. By developing virtue as the habit of our lives we will be approaching every

choice in life from the right angle and with the right intention. Virtues lead us to be in control of our lives and this control allows us to grow ourselves into the-best-version-of-ourselves possible.

Lighthouse Book of the Week:The Faith for Beginners
The Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds are prayers most Catholics take for granted. We pray them by rote when we say the rosary or go to Mass—often without thinking about or fully understanding what we’re saying.Providing you with this understanding is what The Faith for Beginners is all about. It’s a fascinating romp through the history of the Creeds, closely examining what we believe and why—with references to Scripture, the Church Fathers, and Church councils. You’ll learn about heresies, persecutions, and theological disagreements that forced the Church to more carefully define our beliefs and add them to the Creeds.
The Vocations Prayer
Cross will be at the homes of
Joe & Sharon Hein
All parishioners are invited to sign up to receive the prayer cross at any Mass
you desire, by contacting John O’Brien at [email protected] or signing up in the vestibule. It is our hope that this experience will encourage each of us to take seriously our vocation as a member of the Body of Christ and encourage ALL of us to pray for the gift of vocations to priesthood and religious life.
