We fit in to fit out

Fitting in with your plans, fitting in with your team and fitting out your vision.

We provide a comprehensive interior contracting and shopfitting service to a range of blue chip clients and independent businesses across the UK and Ireland.

We have a dynamic, talented team and have earned the reputation for quality in the Retail, Leisure & Hospitality, Heritage and Commercial Sectors.

We have the skills and ability to take an internal fit-out scheme from concept to completion with a high degree of professionalism and quality.

Our in-house joinery manufacturing facility, with the latest cutting edge equipment, differentiates us from our competitors. Our joinery workshop allows us to control the high quality of bespoke joinery and solid surface items that are required for modern interiors. We have become a benchmark for a number of clients and designers as to how they judge the quality of joinery work from their contractor base.

We are proud to have many of the world’s best-known hospitality brands as clients. Marcon is the contractor of choice for many bar, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues across the UK and Ireland. They are contracts won not through luck or good fortune, but because of our unwavering quest for utter perfection in everything we do. In recognition of this, we are currently McDonald’s UK Contractor of the Year.

Hospitality & Leisure

We have been a contractor of choice for McDonalds since 2008 and have successfully carried out multiple fit-out works across Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England.

Averaging approximately 50 specific projects annually, we have completed a range of different type of works for the global restaurant chain.

Presented with the UK Contractor of the Year Award 2013 we have consistently delivered against McDonald’s KPI’s in terms of health & safety, programme delivery, quality, responsiveness and snag free handover.

The range of projects vary depending on the client’s delivery programme, but generally consist of the following types of work.

Restaurant Refurbishment: This entails the complete refurbishment of the entire restaurant premises

Restaurant Remodelling: A restaurant remodelling project consists of the refurbishment of the front of house restaurant area. New lighting, flooring, decoration, screens, toilets, signage, furniture and customer ordering counter.

Office moves: Office moves involves refurbishment of the office areas and back of house areas. The restaurant will remain open during an office move project which requires working in close proximity to the general public including children and working beside a live food environment.

Side by sides: The McDonald’s side by side programme requires the addition of a second drive thru land and additional customer ordering point. Work required minor ground work elements, data cabling, road layout, tarmacking and kerbing.

We are helping bring an ambitious new coffee and food brand to life as part of a province-wide roll-out. We have been engaged to fit-out three new Synge & Byrne ‘coffee kitchen’ units in Newtownabbey, Belfast and Derry for the BWL Group.

No two Synge & Byrnes will be the same. While there will be common features, for example the counter and backdrop, we plan to inject some individualism into every location, depending on the specifics of the particular building. Our approach to design will be about maintaining the architectural integrity of the buildings and creating complementary ‘old and new’ talking points in each place we develop.

This challenging scheme involved the installation of kitchen equipment, serving and display counter including M&E, flooring and decoration in the new Deli Restaurant in Dundrum Town Centre.

The elliptical feature bulk head required precision engineering to install and is without doubt one of the most striking structures in the centre.

21 Social is still one of Belfast’s most popular boutique bars and restaurants.

The project valued at £1.3 million was delivered in just 9 weeks and was a demanding programme with an intricate and creative design. Marcon took possession of the building which had been stripped completely of all its finishes and were responsible for the full fit-out which involved. The project required a full mechanical and electrical installation, formation of a new glass encased stairwell from ground to first floor with the steel stairs constructed and clad with oak and quartz stone. The project also included 1100m2 of porcelain floor and marble wall tiles.

We manufactured all the specialist joinery items combining workshop expertise with onsite craftsmanship to produce custom items such as; Birch slatted and curved ceiling features, intricate plasterboard raft features, solid oak ceiling, wall panel lattice work and bespoke doors, frames and recessed mirror architraves.

The project was selected as the best interior project in the UK by the National Association of Shopfitters Awards 2011. Anyone who has visited the venue can see the longevity of style and quality craftsmanship on show.

The newly refurbished bar which has been renamed Tate’s Bar & Grill was transformed from a traditional style pub to a contemporary style in just six weeks.

Marcon worked in partnership with the client to interpret their vision into a stylish yet practical interior that is fit for purpose for the staff and for the clientele.

The renovations, which were undertaken by a team of specialists, involved the installation of a new bespoke stone bar with feature walnut panels, new flooring, new lighting, sound system, tables and seating.

“We are absolutely delighted with the result. It took six weeks from start to finish, with minimum disruption to our neighbours. Our vision of the bar and grill has been brought to life, thanks to the ‘can do’ attitude, hard work and above all professionalism of the team at Marcon Fit-Out”.

Heritage

Titanic Belfast® is the world’s largest Titanic visitor attraction located on the site where the famous ship was built 100 years ago. The state-of-the-art visitor experience is housed in the iconic six storey building and centres on the nine Exhibition and Gallery areas. We were initially contracted for the fit-out of the galleries but during the early stages of the design development process the client quickly realised the company’s potential, professionalism, quality of our manufacturing and our ‘can do’ attitude. We were then contracted for the fit-out of the Galley Cafe, Bistro 401, Titanic Store as well as the fit-out of offices, training rooms and staff areas within the iconic building. As with any visitor attraction, the proof is very much in the pudding. The world-class attraction has become the province’s most visited tourist attraction after welcoming 1 million visitors in its first 14 months - far beyond expectations.

This beautiful building is as much of an icon of the Maiden City as its famous walls and the new Plantation Exhibition project has secured the Guildhall’s iconic and cultural relevance for generations to come.

The new exhibition telling the story of the Plantation has opened to the public in May 2013. The interactive visitor experience was fitted out in 8 weeks

Working in partnership with Tandem Design, we created a spectacular exhibition at the iconic building which is the only surviving guildhall still in civic use in Ireland.

The Grade A listed Guildhall is an architecturally stunning building with stained glass windows and wood panel features. We integrated the new exhibition into these features and complimented the period style of the building.

We utilised our in-house specialist joinery workshop to manufacture all the required elements of the exhibition.Fitting tribute

“Marcon has a real ‘can-do’ attitude and offer some great ideas. We are using parts of the Plantation exhibition as a benchmark for other fit-out companies and as yet, none have been able to match Marcon’s high standards”.

This project consisted of an interior fit out of a new permanent exhibition at Belfast Harbour offices which commemorates the city’s 400 year old maritime history.

Working with design company Tandem, we brought the vision of the exhibition ‘A Port that Built A City’ to reality in four weeks which included specialist joinery manufacturing.

We were responsible for the entire refurbishment of the new Heritage Room which required specialist joinery skills to house valuable historic documents and artefacts which relate to the port of Belfast’s rich heritage. The famous Titanic table, which is on loan to Belfast Harbour from Harland & Wolff, and a stunning new 3.5 m high stained glass window.

Our fresh, vigorous approach serves our clients well in the often time-sensitive and pressured retail fit-out environment. A dedicated focus to having tills ringing within a new retail environment is our priority

Retail

Not wanting to look like ‘more of the same’ our client opted for a store that has a feel of heritage. The result is a mix of modern clean with raw jeanery, a look that creates a sense of intrigue.

First impressions are extremely important, so the shop front had to be special. Surrounded by granite tiles the large glass front with an enclosed wall both compliments the product and creates inquisitiveness to see what’s inside.

The interior of Freedom Clothing has two themes; Male & Female equals Raw & Romantic. They wanted to create a distinct yet subtle difference between the two sexes in store. This has been achieved by creating a men’s section styled with exposed ceiling & beams, a wall that has been built from reclaimed Cheshire brick, complemented by a parquet floor that was removed from the old local schoolhouse in Dromore. This gives a raw rustic masculine feel. The main focal point is the jean arch in the center of the shop. Freedom Clothing’s passion is denim so everything else revolves around that.

The romantic female side of the store has a subtle curved ceiling; leather bound panels and luxury stainless steel pendants by Norm of Copenhagen. The flooring on this side has been created with saw cut oak that has been ammonia smoked and lime treated, giving depth of feel and warmth.

The whole shop has a relaxing airy feel, clean and fresh with just a hint of minimalism and is a breath of fresh air on the often repetitive high street.

Remus Uomo is a quality label clothing company creating smart menswear, including suits, jackets and trousers.

Marcon was responsible for the complete fit-out of the new store, which has received admiration for its new design and look. Ambient lighting combined with glass and walnut gives the store a richness that compliments the high quality clothing on display.

A major attraction at the iconic Titanic Belfast® is the extremely popular Titanic Store. Whilst having a distinct nautical style and nuance, O’Donnell O’Neill and worked closely to deliver a design that had also has a human scale and an endearing quality to the shop by incorporating the imagery and story of the passengers aboard the ship. The entrances to the store from the main entrance concourse are picture framed in black steel riveted steel plate.

One of the Marcon’s key assets in the delivery of this project is its specialist joinery workshop, were the Titanic Store’s many fixtures, cabinetry and exhibition structures came to life. Using state-of-the-art machinery and expert craftsmanship we were able to deliver complex, bespoke joinery solutions to this scheme.
