All of us here at the Ravinia Club are saddened by the recent passing of Mr. Ben Spalding. Mr. Spalding was a founding member of the Ravinia Club, former Chairman of the Board and served many years on our Board of Governors. Very few people were as passionate about
the Ravinia Club as he was. He was always proud to say he was a member and was responsible for many of you being here! He was never without a smile and an enthusiastic greeting like he
had known you his whole life. His loyalty and support as a lifetime member was the reason we named one of our board rooms after him. He leaves behind many friends and memories,
but he will always be present in our hearts and minds.

Maintenance Corner “Ask Greg!”Each issue our Maintenance Director, Greg Hazard will off er a unique and useful household tip. Have a question? All you have to do is Ask Greg at [email protected]!Dear Greg,We just had a big birthday party for my son
who turned 5. Unfortunately, the kids got in to the goodie bags a little early and now there is gum stuck on my living room carpet as a reminder of how much fun 5 year olds can be! Can you help?Signed, Bazooka Joe
Joe~You are in luck! I have a few ways that might help. First you can freeze the gum by placing a plastic bag fi lled with ice cubes over the gum for about 15 minutes. Once it’s frozen, you can usually peel the gum away. You can also use a product called “Goo-Gone” that is specifi cally made for this type of removal. Otherwise, a professional steam cleaner can do the trick. And Joe, before you fi nd yourself in this sticky situation again, just give the kids the comic strip and keep the gum for yourself!Sincerely, Greg Haz
