Video Messages

The SIH is the largest ever Hackathon in the world and the only one to be held at the national

Brief
Dr Bansal, Chairman NDIM, pointed out that the Defence Sector was a strategic sector,
requiring management skills from the young and the educated conversant with the strategic
space. Dr Bansal added that while leading B-Schools were equipping the younger
generation with the management skills, it was necessary to educate them with strategic
thinking. A step in this direction, as pointed out by Brig S P Singh, is setting up of the
proposed ‘Defence University’.
Prof Iyer, felt that like in most developed economies, sustainable business models were
very necessary for industry to invest in defence. Brig Kuldeep Singh Dalal explained how
ECIL had achieved success in manufacturing critical component—the “seeker”-- of the
BRAHMOS missile. This development may lead to export of “Brahmos” to other countries.
Shri Vimal Mehta illustrated how air boats manufacture by them could be used in marshy
terrain, forest land and river bodies. Shri Sai Kumar opined that it was very necessary to
make the younger generation interested in areas like IT in Defence, Defence Electronics,
Avionics, Data Analysis, UAVs etc.
