Field Trip to Notre Dame

Our annual “Fun Night” for

6/7/8 grade students has been

rescheduled to March 14th. More

information will be coming home

soon.

Thank you to Arna Tygart and

Heather Zerillo for leading the

team of family volunteers who

have organized this event for our

middle school students.

Students in grades 5 & 6 will be

busy working on Science Fair

projects. These will be on display

in the cafeteria the evening of

March 26th at 6:30 p.m. Please

come and recognize the hard

work these students have shown

in completing their projects.

On Thursday, March 12th grades

5-8 will be taking a field trip to

Notre Dame High School to

preview their Drama Club’s

presentation of the play “Damn

Yankees”. Permission slips have

been sent home in family

envelopes. Busses will depart St.

Joseph School at 12:30p.m. and

return at 2:30 p.m.

The season of Lent is upon us

once again. It is a time to grow

spiritually in our relationship

with God, to more fully

understand the sacrifices our

Lord made for each of us when

He suffered and died on the cross.

Lent can be a time when we do

additional deeds for others. As a

school community, we will be

collecting personal hygiene items

for migrant families who will be

entering our community in the

spring. We ask that each class

please donate the following

items:

National Junior Honor Society

(NJHS) has rescheduled their

“Dress Down Day” that was

scheduled for Valentine’s Day, for

March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day.

For a $1 donation, students will

be allowed to dress down in St.

Patty’s Day attire.

Knights of Columbus Scholarship

The NYS Health Department

requires that all students

entering 6th grade receive a

Pertussis Booster and a Varicella

Booster. This proof must be on

file at school prior to the start of

the school year. Current 5th grade

parents please take note. Many

children have already received

these vaccines. Please have your

health care provider fax a copy

to the school office (Fax # 343-

8911).

We are now accepting

registrations for NEW students

for the 2015-2016 school year.

If you know of anyone who is

interested in learning more about

St. Joseph School, please

encourage them to call the office

for more information.

Kindergarten paperwork must be

in by May 29th to allow for

Kindergarten screening. A copy

of your child’s immunizations and

birth certificate will be required to

developed to provide needs-based

tuition aid for Catholic and non-

Catholic students registered at a

parish-affiliated or regional

Catholic school in the Diocese of

Buffalo. Approximately

$250,000 is available each

academic year to provide tuition

assistance to families that

apply and meet eligibility

requirements. Families must re-

apply each year to be considered

for a Bison award since awards

are based on a formula ranking

the overall financial needs of a

given year. All applications and

information will be kept

confidential and used only for

evaluation purposes.

A BIG “Thank You” to…

Ms. Freeman and Ms. Zambito, the faculty advisors for our National Junior Honor Society, for helping

to plan and organize the induction ceremony on March 12th and to the faculty council for their time

and support of this program.

Natalie Corcoran, Amy Murray, Kristina Clark and their team of volunteers for all of their work on the

Penny Carnival. It is sure to be another huge success on Saturday, March 21st from 10:00-4:00. The

money raised from this event will go to Catholic Charities and to our S.O.S. treasury to provide special

activities and events for our children.

Mrs. Arna Tygart and Mrs. Heather Zerillo for chairing the 6/7/8 grade Fun Night on Friday, March

14st. This event will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Our SJS Board and S.O.S members for their dedication and “never-ending” work for our school.

Mrs. Natalie Corcoran and her weekly volunteers for all of their continued work on the Super Sale.
