Don’t miss this opportunity! It’s all about God’s grace, His incredible love and mercy He desires to show you and me! There are 66 parishes in the Diocese of Crookston. A number of years ago each parish was asked to establish an endowment for the education of seminarians. Many parishes did start them but some didn’t. It takes a lot of money to support a seminarian (tuition, room and board, retreats. formation, and health care). What the interests and dividends don’t cover, the diocese, through the Diocesan Annual Appeal, covers. Right now, the endowments for the education of seminarians only covers about 25% of our five seminarians. The diocese needs to grow our endowments so that we can raise up more seminarians in order for you to have a priest in the future. Both St. Francis of Assisi in Fisher and Holy Trinity in Tabor have established endowments. It’s our time to begin one. We will have an annual collection to fund our endowment. On the weekend of April 6-7 we will have a special collection to initiate this endowment. Please be generous! We all have family members and friends away from the Catholic Church. It is our responsibility to invite/shepherd them back. Please mark your calendar for Saturday, April 13, and plan on coming to a workshop entitled: S h e p h e r d i n g T h e m H o m e . It’s in our social hall and it’s free. Please sign-up in the gathering place so we can plan accordingly. What a wonderful way to lead into Holy Week when we remember what our Good Shepherd has done for us! Your brother in Christ, Msgr. Mike

Hospital stays and Clergy visits Our clergy know how important it is that you receive a visit from them. They want you or your loved one to receive communion and or a blessing. With the HIPPA Laws, Altru and the nursing homes will not give your parish priest your name or room number unless you specifically ask them to do so. If you or your loved one has a hospital stay, please call the office with this information. Many times, the parish only hears of someone’s hospitalization after the person has returned home. Call the parish office at 218-773-0877 and let us know of your loved one’s hospitalization, so a visit can be scheduled.

Shepherding Them Home: Guiding our loved ones back to the Church

Do you have a family member or friend who has left the Church? Family members often ask themselves, “What can I do?” and often they have tried something, but nothing seems to work. If you want to try a new approach you are invited to join Deacon Mark Krejci, Office of Marriage, Family & Life for the Diocese of Crookston, for a Saturday workshop on how to approach people who have fallen away from the faith. The sessions will help you develop a plan to guide you as you approach your loved one about coming home to the Church. For those parents who still have children in the home, this workshop will help you consider how to raise faithful children as they grow up in a society where fewer people believe in God and even more have rejected the need for the Church. You will consider what you are doing to raise your children in the faith, what others have done in their families, and what researchers suggest you can do to prepare them for the world. The workshop will be held on April 13th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart in the Social Hall. Lunch will be provided. Just as Jesus sent out his disciples for the conversion of the world, He calls you to be his disciple for the conversion of those in your life who have left the faith or those you want to help keep connected.

Scholarship Opportunity The Knights of Columbus - Christ the King Council 5341 is soliciting applications for scholarships from graduating high school seniors who are members of Sacred Heart, Holy Trinity (Tabor) and St. Francis (Fisher) Parishes and have been accepted by an accredited college or university as a full-time student. These Knights of Columbus scholarships are intended to recognize seniors who have demonstrated commitment to their school, church, community and have exhibited academic achievement. Scholarship forms complete with guidelines and selection priorities are available at the Sacred Heart Parish office and student’s high school counselor’s offices. You may also request a scholarship form from KC Scholarship Committee member Shaun Havis at [email protected]. Deadline is March 31st.

Dear Parents and Friends of Sacred Heart,

With daily class discussions and actions of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, including the Stations of the Cross each Friday, God is truly at work in the school this Lent. I pray that your Lent thus far has been fruitful in nourishing your soul and drawing you closer to Jesus.

Sharing an idea from the Dynamic Catholic Best Lent Ever daily video email, I recommend to you the simple act of creating a holy moment. Beginning with one or two small acts each day, set aside what you want to do along with your own interests, ideas and desires to do what God is calling you to do in that moment. A holy moment requires you to be intentional in your action(s) and to partner with God and His will. As a family, encourage one another to create holy moments and to recognize the presence of God working through each other. Discuss and celebrate the joy that comes from a holy moment and the simple act of placing God’s will before your own. May the joy of your holy moments be pleasing to God and draw you closer to Him this Lenten season.

Lenten blessings, Miss Joanne Wilson

Eagle Athletics Update (*as of March 13th, 2019) · The boys' basketball team ended their fantastic season losing to the

Fertile/Beltrami Falcons, 59-52. The Eagles finish with a record of 19 wins and 9 losses. Thank you to all who made it to Thief River Falls and your continued support throughout the entire season.

· Sacred Heart girls’ basketball coach, Joann Remer, announced on Sunday night at the end-of-the-season team gathering that she would be stepping down from coaching girls’ basketball next season. Coach Remer took over Eagle Girls’ Basketball program in 2007-08 and went on to coach 12 seasons and collect 150 wins. The team went from the bottom of Section 8A to a perennial contender under her leadership. Coach Remer was named Section 8A coach of the year in 2013-14 and 2015-16. She took the Eagles to the first Minnesota State Tournament in girls’ basketball program history in 2016, which became Sacred Heart’s 7th team in school history to reach a State Tournament regardless of sport. Coach Remer had each of her 3 daughters (Michelle, Stacy and Jessica) come through her program during her time coaching at Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart wishes to say thank you to Coach Remer for the dedication and the impact you’ve had on our community. Sacred Heart will have big shoes to fill.
