APRIL MOVIES

Sunday, April 5th, 4:00 PM: CWPA

This Beautiful Fantastic (2017). A light-

hearted and inspiring romantic drama in

which several somewhat isolated souls

connect through the natural beauty of a

garden: When her landlord forces a young

librarian and aspiring children's author to

clean up her overgrown, neglected back

yard garden, she meets her grumpy elderly

neighbor, an avid horticulturalist, and his

quirky but endearing cook/housekeeper and

unlikely friendships are born that change

lives. Cast Jessica Brown Findlay (who

played the impassioned, rebellious Sybil in

the Downton Abbey series and ran off

with Tom the chauffeur!), Tom Wilkinson,

Andrew Scott, PG. 1 hr 32 min.

Tuesday, April 14th, 7:00 PM: A/C

This Beautiful Fantastic (2017). See April

5th description.

Friday, April 17th, 7:00 PM: CWPA

Judy (2019). A repeat showing by popular

demand. Thirty years after rising to global

stardom, showbiz legend Judy Garland

arrives in London to perform a five-week

sold-out run at The Talk of the Town. While

preparing for the shows, Garland battles

with management, reminisces with friends

and adoring fans, and embarks on a

whirlwind romance with soon-to-be fifth

husband Mickey Deans — all while bravely

struggling to overcome intensifying anxiety

and physical decline. One Oscar win for

Best Actress. Cast Renée Zellweger, Jessie

Buckley. PG-13. 1 hr 58 min.

Friday, April 24th, 7:00 PM: CWPA

The Aeronauts (2019). An edge-of-your-

seat thriller, this film is based on an

amalgam of the flights detailed in Richard

Holmes' 2013 book Falling Upwards: How

We Took to the Air. The balloon flight

depicted in The Aeronauts is based on the

history-making 1862 flight of two real-life

British aeronauts James Glaisher and Henry

Coxwell, whose coal gas-filled balloon broke

the world flight altitude record, reaching

30,000 to 36,000 ft. While Glaisher is

depicted in the film, Coxwell has been

replaced by 'Amelia", a fictional character

who is a composite of several real-life

women who were involved in early ballooning

but underrated/under-reported because of

their gender. All of the life-threatening

issues involved in a 30,000 ft. ascent in the

1800's are addressed in the movie--hold on

to your seat! Cast Felicity Jones, Eddie

Redmayne, Himesh Patel. PG-13 1 hr 41 min.

Charles C. Brosius & “Chester County,

Mushroom Capitol”

Charles C. Brosius has been a leading figure

in the United States mushroom industry

and is a former Pennsylvania Secretary of

Agriculture (March 1995 - May 1997). A

native of West Grove, Mr. Brosius earned

an international reputation as an innovator

in mushroom cultivation and marketing. The

family business, Marlboro Mushrooms, from

which he retired in 1995, led the state

mushroom industry in adopting and

developing production techniques to meet

the growing fresh-market demand in the

1960s. His lectures, sponsored research

and published papers established him as a

national authority in mushroom production.

Mr. Brosius is a graduate and former

trustee of Penn State and named a Penn

State Distinguished Alumnus in 2000. In

2019 he was named a Penn State Great

Valley Platinum Member. Mr. Brosius will

discuss the mushroom industry in Chester

County - the beginnings, the growth, and

the industry's economic importance to the

region.

Eleanor Isaacson – Surviving the Second

World War in Nazi Germany

Eleanor grew up in Hitler's Germany and

experienced the infamous bombing of

Dresden first-hand. Separated from her

parents at the age of 2, she experienced all

the horrors of war and the Nazi Regime.

She arrived in the United States alone in

1948 at the age of 13. A story everyone

LIBRARY NEWS

Library Footnotes Good news for our Large Print readers. Our

holdings of Large Print editions have been

listed in a separate catalog in large print so

you can look for a title or an author more

conveniently than scanning the shelves.

Another bit of good news is that the

catalog lists in the big white notebooks

have been updated to January 30,

eliminating the need (for a month or so) to

check the “Additions” pages. Currently

there are approximately 3,200 books on the

Garrett shelves. In case anyone wonders,

monthly circulation ranges between 200 and

250 books. No more statistics now, but

here’s a tip that may improve the success

rate of your book search.

If you’re a fan of Sue Grafton’s Alphabet

mysteries you know you can find them on

the “G” shelves of the Fiction section. But

if the title you want isn’t there, then try

the Paperback racks; and if you still don’t

find it, go to the Large Print shelves. Or

you might find it easier to open the “Listed

by Author” notebook and look up the

Grafton titles in our collection. Read the

whole line of information – you’ll learn in

which section of the shelves you will find

the title you want – if we have it and it isn’t

in circulation.

**Make half your plate fruits and vegetables, especially dark-green, red & orange vegetables plus beans and peas. **Make at least half your grains whole. Choose 100% whole-grain. **Switch to fat-free or low-fat milk, yogurt and cheese. We need more calcium & vitamin D to keep bones healthy. **Vary your protein choices. **Limit sodium, solid fats and added sugars.
