A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT

Time to roll again! Just aft er the MIPP AGM, the next most important item on our calendar is usually the regular March international seminar/workshop which is put up by the Societies of UK with, naturally, our collaboration.

Our relationship with the Societies has been one of the highlights of the MIPP’s history. Naturally, there have been little instances where we disagreed on minor things, but with goodwill coming from both sides (and many a time a glass of wine or beer) we have always surmounted the obstacles and keep striving to improve our collaboration.

Th is time round, we will be having Dave Wall (www.davewallphoto.co.uk) as our honoured guest. Dave is a valid all rounder and epitomises what today’s photographer needs to be – he is artistic and creative, he is a photography trainer and also an expert digital retoucher. Th e days of the photographer just shooting the im-ages and leaving the rest to laboratories or assistants is far behind us.

It will be a fantastic learning experience and we expect a great turn out this year as most members will avail themselves of this great opportunity. Th e event is mainly subsidized by the Societies and would not be possi-ble without their valid involvement.

Small product photography on a shoestring !

How to achieve stunning and professional imagery with non professional equipment!!!!!!!!

Dave Wall is a commercial photographer specialising in highly stylised “small product photography”. Over many years Dave has honed both his lighting skills and also his lighting equipment. As all the major brands of studio lighting are aimed squarely at medium and large subjects Dave got fed up with having to “make do”. Dave now favours home made lighting for a more “bespoke” and creative approach.

Dave’s seminar will encompass a breakdown of what lighting he now favours and why.A live creative small product shoot showing his lighting style and how he “builds an image”Th e Final Stage ….. Product photography is about perfection. Photoshop helps achieve this. Daves unique style is oft en based around multiple exposures blended together to create images that are impossible by pure photography alone.

AMBIENT INTERIORS

Interiors don’t just happen…………. Th ey are “created”.

Th ey have a structure and a story to them. Th ey have component parts that work in harmony playing with light and shadows for maxi-

mum eff ect.

Dave Wall’s recognises all of this and that is why he shoots for both interior designers and architects, both of whom can have very diff erent requirements.

Dave likes to work without supplemental lighting to keep the feel as the designers and archi-tects intended. He prefers instead to combine multiple exposures to enhance what is already

within the scene.

Why not join him and take a look at his unique style creating an image from start to fi nish?
