RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS

Closed over $1 million for Microsoft during my first 8 months, working with 114 small

schools in California; this was more than an 80 percent increase over the previous fiscal

year’s sales for these accounts.

Authored and promoted the bestselling book about North Dakota of the 21st century,

How Fargo of You, and the successful follow-up, Close Encounters of the Fargo Kind.

Helped more than a dozen companies, candidates and causes in the Fargo/Minneapolis

region – including Mayors Walaker and Mahoney, Myriad Mobile, the Fargo-Moorhead

Rotary Foundation and NDSU President Bresciani, among others – understand their

markets and communicate successful messages in words, graphics, media and events

over the last 5 years.

Successfully spearheaded and lobbied a multibillion-dollar pipeline project.

Tripled company income my first year as Marketing Director for a high-tech graphics

firm servicing designers and builders; rapid expansion and national clientele quickly led

to a merger.

WORK EXPERIENCE

“A million dollars in educational sales? That’s like four million in business sales.”

― Jake Hancock, Site Director, EGS, Fargo Microsoft Campus (see references)

EDU Consortia Account Manager | California | U.S. Public Sector

Microsoft Corporation One Lone Tree Road, Fargo, ND

(9/2014-Present) Main accomplishment: Over $1 million in sales my first 8 months.

The grey box above shows the email signature they have me use, complete with the Microsoft

logo, but my employer is actually Expert Global Solutions (EGS), a marketing company with over

200 employees on Microsoft’s Fargo campus. My job has been to sell Windows mobile devices to

114 small school districts in California operating under a special Microsoft agreement. I’ve taken

these sales from near zero the previous year to over $1 million in less than a year at EGS.

Resume of Marc de Celle (cont’d.)

“How Fargo of You is far and away the best selling book I’ve seen in the twenty years

I’ve been selling books in Fargo. It’s a phenomenon.”

― Greg Danz, owner of Zandbroz, Fargo’s largest Independent bookstore

Author, Speaker, Promoter (12/2009 – present; very part-time)

Main accomplishment: Conceived, wrote and promoted the

bestselling book about North Dakota of the 21st century.

Coined the phrase “How Fargo of You” in response to all the

over-the-top kindness my family and I experienced after moving

here in 2005. Following the flood fight

of 2009, I knew I had enough “How

Fargo of You” stories to fill a book with

a good dramatic arc. The first two

chapters got a great response from

locals, so I finished it, created a cover in

Photoshop that tested really well, got

the mayor and other local VIPs behind

me, put on dozens of book, radio and

television events and acquired over fifty

sales outlets in the upper Midwest. Sales #1 North Dakota Bestseller

soon surpassed 20,000 copies, more than any book about North Dakota

since Come Hell & High Water (published in 1997 by the GF Herald about that year’s flood and

fire). In 2013, released Close Encounters of the Fargo Kind, the current local bestseller.

“Marc delivers way above expectations.”

― Lynn Speral, President, Fargo Rotary Club, 2012-2013

Writer and Editor-at-Large (2009-present; occasional)

Main accomplishment: helping numerous good causes and

worthwhile organizations define and get their messages out.

Creating graphics, doing market research, developing marketing

strategies and arranging media appearances as well as writing

and publishing. My many happy consultees and clients include

Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney; North Dakota State University

President Bresciani; Myriad Mobile; Smiling Moose Deli; Preston-

Kelly (an award-winning ad agency in Minneapolis); the Fargo-

Moorhead Rotary Foundation and Dennis Walaker’s successful

2014 re-election campaign.

Example: This post garnered more than 5,000 views in the 48 hours prior to the June 2014 election, three times more than the next most successful post by either candidate during the entire campaign. Working off the Internet meme “The Most Interesting Mayor in the World” created by Scott and Jaci Stofferahn, and with a photo of the mayor by Melissa Sobolik, I wrote, Photoshopped and tested it, then repeated the process three times until this version tested extremely well. Only then did I post and watch it take off.

“If you want to know what your clients really want,

and you should, I recommend you talk to Marc.”

― Rick Engebretson, President [email protected]

15 Broadway, Suite 205, Fargo, ND 58102 701-293-5735

Marketing Research Project (9/2007 – 6/2008; full-time) Main accomplishment: Investigated

and analyzed the marketing strategy of this architectural, construction, interior design and

graphics company licensed in 17 states, as well as the marketing practices of the U.S. building

and design industries in general, to President Rick Engebretson’s complete satisfaction. Also

oversaw successful work proposals for new clients and obtained positive press coverage.

“Marc de Celle’s excellent report, Anticipating Crisis, will help save

the lives and cities of the future – perhaps the very near future.”

― Richard B. Kuprewicz, President, Accufacts Incorporated,

a nationally recognized safety management engineering firm ….

Anticipating Crisis – Author, Lobbyist, Spokesperson (8/2003-8/2007)

Main accomplishment: Wrote a widely acclaimed report that helped

lead to the construction of a much-needed multi-billion dollar

pipeline. By serendipity, I discovered a potentially catastrophic flaw

in the energy infrastructure of the southwestern U.S. Morally compelled to write about it,

Anticipating Crisis garnered accolades from top experts and got widespread media coverage in

Arizona. After its release, I lobbied the Arizona Governor’s Office and the state’s Department of

Emergency Management. Three months after publication, a plan for the best solution, a multi-

billion dollar gasoline pipeline from Midland, Texas to Phoenix and Las Vegas, was announced.

The project was completed in 2012. (A PDF of Anticipating Crisis is available on request.)

“The first year Marc worked for us, our income tripled. His ability to find better ways to

communicate what we could do for our potential clients was the key to this growth.”

― Richard Balfour, President, Nexus Multimedia

(now owner of Lucid Dream Studios, reachable at [email protected])

Nexus Multimedia – Director of Marketing and Client Services (8/2000 – 8/2003)

Main accomplishment: Rebranded this high-tech graphics firm servicing designers and

builders, leading to rapid expansion and a successful merger. My first year as Marketing

Director, I rebranded Nexus, tripling sales and income. The second year, I created the position of

Director of Client Services to coordinate production schedules for the increased workload as we

got our first national clients. Nexus merged with two related companies and I accepted a buyout.

“Anyone who needs a professional marketing and communications talent

would be well served to avail themselves of Marc’s abilities.”

― Karen Evans, President Emeritus, The Menta Group ..

708-642-2601 or [email protected]

Studio de Celle, Phoenix, Arizona

Owner, Copywriter and Graphic Artist (1/1990 – 8/2000)

Throughout the ‘90s I did marketing work for a broad stable of clients. SSttuuddiioo ddee CCeellllee

GCC High Tech Center

6000 W. Olive, Glendale, AZ 85302

Assistant to the Director (1/90 – 1/94)

GCC was the top Community College for computer training in the U.S. (U.S. News & World

Report, 1990) when I was hired by the man who conceptualized and built the High Tech Center,

Professor Mark Montanus. I wrote introductory computer courses, created graphics and

produced promotional materials for those courses. Mark can be reached at [email protected].

OTHER NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

“Less than a year after Marc’s marketing work for us, I was

holding more money in my hands than I thought I’d ever see in my life.”

― Danny Pool, President and Owner, PC Manufacturing

480-991-2612 or [email protected]

Conducted a repackaging project which exploded sales and led to a multi-million dollar

buyout. Did a marketing analysis and recommended PC Manufacturing repackage their top

seller, the Handmasker. Oversaw the repackaging effort; prototype package led to an over-

whelming number of orders from major retailers. Soon, 3M made an eight-figure offer for the

product line, four times the previous year’s offer for the entire company, which was accepted.

GPA of 4.0 after returning to college; training in Procter & Gamble market research

techniques; #1 salesperson on a team of 18 business-to-business salespeople, with double the

sales of the #2 salesperson (my first sales job); Assistant Manager, Pier I Imports, Redondo

Beach, California; Rock Musician, Hollywood, California.

ASSOCIATIONS AND CLUBS

The Fargo Rotary Club: April 2012 – present. Created a full-color

magazine titled Good Works! promoting all five FM area Rotary Clubs.
