Hoover Dam MarathonThis stunning course promises to quickly become one of the Nation's "Must Do" races. Running 100% on paved and packed dirt trails completely removed from

vehicular traffic, you'll traverse the Mojave Desert running thru historic railroad tunnels perched atop of a sweet view of Lake Mead. The "Money Shot" comes at your turn around with an expansive view of Hoover Dam & the newly completed Bypass Bridge. No need to "stop and glance"- you get a great view without breaking your

stride.

33rd Tallahassee Ultra Distance Classic 50K/50 Mile

Decemer 14, 2013

Time: 7:00 a.m.

Course: 10K loop (5 loops for 50K; 8 loops+ for 50M). See course map. This is a family-friendly course as most of it is closed to vehicular traffic. Support crews may walk/run/bicycle on the course.

USATF Certification Numbers: FL10120EBM (50K); FL10119EBM (50 Mile)

Aid Stations: There will be aid stations every three miles. Restrooms are available every 10K. Participants may set up personal aid stations alongside the course near the start/finish or near the picnic grounds. Aid stations will be well stocked with Gatorade, water, and the usual food items.

Cutoff: Runners must begin their last 10K loop by 3:30 p.m.

Awards: Overall, Master and Grandmaster 50K and 50M. Each 50K and 50M finisher will receive a finisher award or medal.

Weather: The average low for December 14 is 41, and the average high 65. Rain is not common in this area during the month of December. 

Packet Pick-up: Packet pick up will begin at 6:00 a.m. at the start/finish area.  Races begin at 7:00 a.m.

TheTUDC has a reputation for uniting some of America’s fastest ultra distance runners with those testing themselves at the ultra distance for the first time, for it offers a flat, fast

paved loop course (USATF Certified), great volunteer support, plenty of on-course aid and generally runner-friendly weather.  In addition, the race is staged fully within the confines of the beautiful Wakulla Springs State Park situated just 15 miles south of

Tallahassee, Florida’s capital city. A throwback to “the old Florida,” Wakulla Springs State Park is home to the world’s largest freshwater spring and the historic Wakulla Springs

Lodge.

SUmmary

Las Vegas: Bright lights, fun times, lots to do. Shopping, Lake Meade, casinos and great shows are nearby. Tough course and not great for spectators. $95 entry fee. Shuttle to start. It is a marathon. Average High Temperature 56 degrees.

Tallahassee: Quiet, natural setting. Boat rides and springs at Wakulla Springs State Park where the Tarzan movies were filmed. Good chance of seeing manatees. Great course for spectators. $45 entry fee. Short drive to course or stay at the historic Wakulla Springs Lodge right at the starting line (adds $130 per night) or stay free with friends. First class Florida beaches nearby. It is an ultra-marathon. Average High Temperature 65 degrees.
