    Pom (from France) found my Scrappy Maple Leaf quilt pattern on the internet and wrote me a comment about her Maple Leaf quilt.

    I fell in love with her quilt.

    Her quilt is completely cut and pieced by hand. I wrote the pattern to be a rotary cut and machine pieced quilt with a tiny bit of applique in the leaf stems.

    White Fabric – Cutting Directions First Cut Then Cut

    5.5” squares and 3.5” by 5.5” rectangles (1) 5.5” by WOF strips

    (1) 5.5” by WOF strip

    (7) 5.5” squaresand (1) 5.5” by 3.5” rectangles

    (2) 5.5” squares and(8) 5.5” by 3.5” rectangles.

    (Draw a line diagonally through the back of each square.)

    2. Press the top part to the white rectangles. Press to the top unit.

    3. Press to the left.

    4. Press to the right.

    5. Sew and press nesting seams. Unit measures 15.5”

  • Sew your leaf blocks into rows.Sew a 2.5” by 16” rectangle between each block. Press to the sashing strips.

    Notice the direction the leaves are facing.

    Row 1:

    Row 3:

    Row 2: Make (2) Units and (2) of these units

    (24) 2.5” half square triangles (HSTs) – white and batik(4) 2.5” by 4” white rectangle(4) 2.5” white squares

    1. Making the HSTsUnfinished triangles measure 2.5” square.

    Use (12) 2 7/8” white squares and (12) 2 2/8” batik squares.Place the white square with the line drawn diagonally on top of the batik square, right sides together.

    Sew a quarter inch seam on either side of the diagonal line.

    Cut on the diagonal line. Press to the dark.

    2. Sew the HSTs to the rectangle. Press to the rectangle.3. Sew (2) 2.5” squares to either end of 2 of the units. Press to the triangle unit.

  • Row 2 continued:1. Sew the triangle strips to either side of block #2 as shown.Sew row #2 together. Press to the triangle strips.

    2. Sew (2) rows of sashing – Sew a 16” by 2.5” white strip to either side of the remaining triangle strips.Turn one row upside down.

    Sew rows of blocks joined by the sashing strip rows.Press to the sashing strips.

    3. Then add the first white border.The 51” strips are sewn to the sides.The 55” strips are sewn to the top and bottom.Press to the border strips.

  • Medium Brown and White Border andSecond White Border

    Make (2) of this unit. 5.5” by 55”

    And (2) of this unit. 5.5” by 65”

    1. Make (80) HSTs using the (40) 3 3/8” white squares and the (40) 3 3/8” medium brown squares.The HSTs measure 3” square.

    2. Use the directions on page 12 to make the HSTs.Sew 8 sets of (10) HSTs. Press in either direction. Be sure and sew with the white parts of the HSTs to match the diagram.

    3. Sew (4) sets together with a 3” by 5” white rectangle in the center. Press to the rectangle.Sew a 3” by 55” white rectangle to the triangle unit.Press to the rectangle.

    4. Sew a 5.5” white square to each end of (2) of these units.Press to the triangle units.

    5. Sew border to quilt. Sew sides first, then top and bottom. Press to the first white border.

  • Dark Brown and White Border and final Dark Brown outer border

    Make (2) of this unit. 3” by 65”

    And (2) of this unit. 3” by 70”

    1. Make (88) HSTs using the (44) 3 3/8” white squares and the (44) 3 3/8” medium brown squares.The HSTs measure 3” square.

    2. Use the directions on page 12 to make the HSTs.Sew 8 sets of (11) HSTs. Press in either direction. Be sure and sew with the white parts of the HSTs to match the diagram.

    3. Sew (4) sets together with a 3” by 5” white rectangle in the center. Press to the rectangle.Sew a 3” by 55” white rectangle to the triangle unit. Sew a 3” dark brown square to each end.Press to the rectangle.

    4. Sew an additional 3” white square to each end of (2) of these units.Press to the triangle units.

    5. Sew borders to quilt. Sew sides first, then top and bottom. Press to the white border.

    6. Sew final dark brown border. Sew the 3” by 70” strips to the sides and the 74” by 3” strips to top and bottom. Press to the outer border.
