M.A.P.#?The art house Tacheles is an intangible cultural treasure for the city of Berlin and for the world, due to its capacity to offer a haven of expression and hospitality to contemporary artistic expres-sion and to cultural exchange. In the attempt to multiply this experience, the Artprotacheles association has imagined the Mobile Atelier Project. Created by artists for artists and for the public to experience, M.A.P.# is organised by the Artprot-acheles association, which aims at creating space for free art and culture in the city and thus trans-port the idea of Tacheles.The Mobile Atelier Project focuses on gentrifica-tion and uses it to create an alternative way of thinking free space: making the concept of noma-disation a leitmotiv for creation. This citywide installation brings art into different contexts and inhabits different spaces.

Multiplication and expansion. Creating a visible network of free temporary ateliers and galleries in the city, an entirely new urban reality.

Based on the idea of multifunctionality, the ensemble of free ateliers and galleries will host artists, individuals or groups/associations from all art fields.The goal of MA.P is to make art and its production directly accessible to the public.The ateliers will offer open workshops where artist and public can connect.

The Mobile Atelier Project is a new attraction creating a dynamic interaction in the city: inhabi-tants, tourists and visitors will discover the city in a different manner – like a free art treasure hunt in the streets.

Once the space used for a mobile atelier project is needed, the atelier is to be simply moved into another empty area.

M.A.P.#1 opened the 14th of April 2012, in the courtyard of PLUS Berlin Hotel & Hostel, located on Warschauer platz, 6.Over 1000 square meters where artists created their installation, including a showroom, a photo lab, an art garden and workshops for painters and sculptors.

Meet the residents!

In collaboration with PLUS Berlin, ArtProT-acheles organized a residency program invit-ing artists from all over the world to stay in the hotel, work and show their art works. Hotel guests, people of the neighborhood, artists and art lovers can enjoy a unique work-ing atmosphere in Friedrichshain.
