– Information gathered presented to Experts in a structured way

– Validation of collected information by Experts, both according to the institutional/political context and the ICT community and its performance

– => Data validation from experts’ side takes place through:

• validation of the questionnaires’ results, and

• own expertise knowledge of the IT sector and the national IT community

Geographical distribution• Palestinian Authority represents a small

geographical area => close proximity of IT players

• Most of the players, especially micro companies and SMEs, located in Ramallah

• Considerable number of micro companies in Gaza

• Universities and research centres especially located in Jerusalem

• Bethlehem and Hebron show IT activity but with minor importance

national territory as regards research

• No significant international research cooperation activities (mostly subcontracting and outsourcing (EU, USA, Taiwan & Israel))

• Great interest in setting up international research cooperation activities

• IT players consider themselves rather as supporters and service providers for European companies than as project leaders
