ChemTec manufactures a unique flow meter called the MAO; consist of a single moving part.

How does it work?

ChemTec’s flow meters measure the volumetric flow of liquids in pipes

Fluid flows through the unit and displaces the Teflon® encapsulated piston. The displacement is proportional to the volumetric flow through the unit.

A transducer (encapsulated in the body, outside of the fluid path) senses the displacement of the piston. The transducers signal is converted by a microprocessor-based conditioning circuit then sends the signal to 3 types of outputs: volt, pulse and current loop.

Selecting the correct MAO for your customer

Choosing the correct flow meter is important. Have a clear understanding of the application in which it will be used. Particularly the process fluid and installation requirements of the application.• What is being measured?• Is the fluid clean?• Display or electronic signal output?• Range? Min/max flow rate for flow meter• Min/max process temperature• Is the fluid chemically compatible with the flow meter wetted parts?• Pipe size?• Fittings? Installation? Direction? Consider the piping (what direction)

and location of the flow meter. Is there magnetic fields present or possible?

InstallationPurge all lines of air before use

Placement• In-line before control valves

• Should not drain completely when flow ceases

• 10 microns filter installed ahead of the flow meter

• Do not place near ferrous material or strong electro-magnetic fields

Sensitive to velocity profile disturbances in the flow stream

Straight lengths of 10 inside diameters upstream & 5 inside diameters downstream

Do not use pipe paste. Teflon tape can shred and enter MAO flow stream
