ENCLOSED - Cornell’s two and three port enclosed impellers are designed to handle large solids with high efficiency and high head requirements.

SEMI-OPEN - The three or four bladed, semi-open impeller has a cutting action which allows it to handle the worst slurries at high head.

DELTA™ - The DELTA™ style impeller is excellent for handling straw, twine, and heavy sludge where there is a low to medium head requirement.

IMPELLER OPTIONSCornell offers three unique impeller designs for liquid waste / slurry applications.

Cornell irrigation pumps are available in a variety of mounting configurations, including horizontal and vertical close-coupled pumps, vertical and horizontal frame-mounted pumps, and pumps with an SAE bell housing mounting directly to an engine.

MOUNTING CONFIGURATIONS

Cornell is now manufacturing cutter blades for the solids-handling, enclosed impeller pump models. When used in conjunction with the high efficiency, enclosed impeller design, the hardened (Rockwell ‘C’ 55-60) rotating cutter ring, and stationary cutter plate work in tandem to pre-cut the product as it enters the impeller eye, and breaks up clogs, with minimal energy consumption. The cutter components are adjustable to allow for peak performance over the life of the parts. The cutter assemblies are also available to retrofit existing Cornell Pumps.

APPLICATIONS:

Cornell Pump Company’s MP Mining Pump Series combines 65 years of innovate pump manufacturing and design, with our highly-regarded patented Cycloseal® technology. Offering high operating pressures, the MP pumps are specifically designed for coarse abrasive slurry applications such as sand, gravel, coal, manure, and mine dewatering.

Various processes can be most effectively accomplished with different metal hardnesses. Cornell is proud to produce our Solids Handling pumps in four different hardness levels.

Wear resistance directly correlates to the hardness of the material.

• Discharge Sizes: 4”, 6”, and 8”• Flow Rates: Up to 9,000 GPM• Heads: Up to 625 ‘• Solids Diameter: Up to 3”• Seal Type: Cycloseal®, hard-faced single seal• Impeller type: Enclosed • Run-Dry® and Redi-Prime® compatible• Available in horizontal frame and SAE mount configurations

• 17-4PH Stainless shaft• Heavy duty construction for aggressive applications • High-chrome white iron (‘CAC’) or HT ductile iron (‘ZY’) pump-end construction• Thick cross-sections for abrasive wear and high operating pressures• Front adjustable wear plate to regain lost efficiency while in service• Replaceable suction liner and wear plates at point of maximum wear• Hardness rating > 650 BHN provides better wear properties compared to standard cast or ductile iron• Heavy duty bearing frame construction with double angular contact thrust bearing. Oil or grease lubricated

• Longer wear life to standard Cornell solids handling pumps

• Solid handling capabilities• Works in tough

environments• Cornell’s patented

Cycloseal®, Run-Dry®, and Redi-prime® options are available

MP SERIES PUMPSCYCLOSEAL®

Ideally suited for water and waste water applications, Cornell’s patented Cycloseal® is a self-contained single mechanical seal with a dished backplate. This configuration requires no external flushing and eliminates the need for a water flush line. The Cycloseal® uses stationary deflector vanes cast into the pump backplate in conjunction with contoured impeller back vanes and a dished backplate to create pressure gradients that moves solids and entrained vapor away from the seal faces. The service life of a Cycloseal® mechanical seal can be as much as 10 times longer than a typical mechanical seal.

Single MechanicalSeal

RUN-DRY™ SYSTEMCornell’s Run-Dry™ system consists of an auxiliary gland and oil reservoir that keeps the seal faces lubricated and prevents dry running of the seal faces during priming, re-priming, or standby operation. The Run-Dry™ gland is connected to a lubricant reservoir via inlet and outlet lines such that shaft rotation provides continuous circulation and cooling of the lubricant and seal faces. With the Run-Dry™ system your pump can run dry for hours without damaging the mechanical seal.

Cornell’s DuraSub™ uses a heavy duty pump end and bearing frame for direct coupling to a hydraulically driven motor. The DuraSub’s™ modular design fits most of the standard Cornell Pump wetted ends.

HYDRAULIC SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS

• Fits various motor configurations

• Heavy duty shaft / bearing frame assembly

• Premium wet end efficiencies reduce horsepower requirements

• Heavy duty pump ends for long service life and reliability

The STX series, our self-priming design, builds on our prominence in providing world class pumps, and allows the new STX to operate in extremely heavy duty situations, while increasing efficiencies up to 8 percent over other manufacturers averages. Those efficiencies could translate into tens of thousands of dollars saved in fuel and maintenance expenses over the life of the pump.

STX PUMPS

REDI-PRIME®

Cornell Redi-Prime® pumps are designed with oversized suctions to provide more flow, reduced friction losses, and higher suction lift. The priming system was designed with the environment in mind. By using a positive sealing float box and a diaphragm vacuum pump, there is no water carry-over to contaminate the environment. With suction lifts of up to 28 ‘, heads to 800 ‘ and flow rates exceeding 38,000 GPM, most Cornell pumps can be readily fitted with the Redi-Prime® system.

EFFICIENT BY DESIGN

Immersible motors are designed to be used in dry-pit applications where there is a possibility of flooding. Why take a submersible motor that was designed to run submerged 100% of the time and modify it to run in air 99% (or most of the time) and

submerged 1% of the time (in case of a flood)? This seems backwards. The correct approach is to take a TEFC motor that is designed to run in air 100% of the time and adapt it to run submerged 1% of the time (in case of a flood).

ImmersIble motor basIc desIgn:The basic design of the immersible pump/motor incorporates a premium efficient,

inverter duty, P-Base or C-Face TEBC motor (totally enclosed, blower cooled). The motor, as the name implies, is totally enclosed and cooled by a blower on top of the motor. If the motor becomes submerged, the blower motor fan shuts down without affecting the main motor. While the motor is temporarily submerged, the media cools the motor just like a true submersible. A special conduit box

is used to prevent water leakage into the motor. The motor is designed to prevent infiltration of water along the shaft and into the motor by utilizing a triple redundant sealing system, including a patented hydroseal design. The motor-end bell housing incorporates the ‘inverted cup’ principle, which traps an air bubble under the motor as water rises, thus keeping water away from the shaft seal. The shaft is fitted with a hydroseal, which expells water and

further reduces the chance of water reaching the shaft seals.

The Immersible motor can withstand up to 30

feet of submergence depth for a two-week period. This exceeds the requirements

of Immersible motors that is described in the industry

standard “Index of Protection” IP67. Competitive designs only

allow immersion of the motor for a period of time not exceeding 30 minutes at a submergence level of 3 ‘. Hardly

enough time to deal with any kind of flooding emergency!
