2- 2 Functioning description

2- 2.1 General description

TE2010-VVF is an instrument for command and control of a firefighting electropump respecting the norm UNI12845. Three operative modes are selectable: MANUAL, AUTOMATIC and BLOCK (selectable by an external selector, connected to terminals 13 and 14 of J3): in the first case you have the complete control of the electropump, through the visualization of the parameters and the possibility to start and stop with the proper buttons. In the second case, the controller governs automatically the start requests (opening of the pressure switches) and the start procedure of the pump. In the third case, the electropump can’t be started. All the parameters are programmable in the proper menus. Respecting the norm UNI12845 you can enable a weekly test of the pump, with the possibility to celect the day. The controller registers the work hours and, with an internal clock, it controls the programmed services and the warranty. The messages and alarms are available in 5 languages: italian, english, spanish, french, and one programmabile via PC (connection via RS232). 2- 2.2 Operative modes

The selection of the operative mode can be done thr ough the external selector, connected to terminals 13 and 14 of J3. 2-2.2.1 - Block

In this modality the system is in “security”, the motor is stopped (if running, it stops immediately) and every manual or automatic trial to start the pump is disabled. 2-2.2.2 - Manual

In this modality it’s possible to start or stop the pump through the START and STOP buttons. 2-2.2.3 - Automatic

In this modality the starting of the electropump can be commanded only by the opening of a pressure switch (P1 or P2), and the stop can be commanded in three different programmable types (see pump setup); the STOP button can be enabled, the START button is inhibited instead.

i. Pump starting . If at least one of the 2 pressure switches (P1, P2) is open the starting of the pump is commanded. The successfull starting is verified through the current absorption measured by the controller. In this case the led indication “pump working” turns-on.

ii. Pump stop . The controller stops the motor when one of the following conditions is present (you can select the type of stop in the pump setup)

1. STOP button . If this option is selected, the controller enables the use of the STOP button. Pressing this button stops immediately the electropump, but only if P1 and P2 are closed.

2. External selector . In this case the stop procedure can be commanded only returning the selector on the MAN position, then pressing the STOP button.

3. Pressure switches . In this operative mode, if both pressure switches P1 and P2 are closed for a programmable time PRESS-STOP-T., the motor will be stopped. This time is settable from 0 to 60 minutes. If OFF the controller doesn’t stop automatically the motor.

2-2.2.4 - Test

The controller can execute a weekly test. This function is active only in automatic mode, in manual or block mode, the alarm “test failed” will appear. The starting day can be set as day of the week (every Monday or every Tuesday ecc...). It’s also possible to enable or disable the alarm “pump working" during the test. 2-2.2.5 – Test of the Leds

To test the 6 leds, keep pressed the “i” for 5 seconds.

2- 2.3 Starting modes

2-2.3.1 – D.O.L starting

Only one contactor is used in this system; when starting, the D.O.L contactor is closed; when the stop procedure is commanded, the contactor is opened. 2-2.3.2 – Wye/Delta starting

Three contactors are used in this system; when starting, the Wye contactor is closed and, immediately after, also the D.O.L contactor is closed; after a programmable time (STAR TIME) the Wye contactor is opened and the Delta contactor is closed (and remains closed until the pump is stopped, as the D.O.L. contactor). It’s possible to set an hysteresys programmable time (ST/DELTA DEL.) between the opening of the Wye contactor and the closure of the Delta contactor. When a stop procedure is commanded, the closed contactors are automatically opened. 2-2.3.3 – Impedance starting

Two contactors are used in this system; when starting, the Impedance contactor is closed; after a programmable time (IMPED. TIME), the D.O.L. contactor si closed and, immediately after, the impedance contactor is opened. When a stop procedure is commanded, the closed contactors are automatically opened. 2-2.3.4 – Autotransformer starting

Three contactors are used in this system; when starting, the Wye contactor is closed and, immediately after, also the Autotransformer contactor is closed; after a programmable time (AUTOTR. TIME) the Wye contactor is opened, then immediately the D.O.L. contactor is closed; immediately after, the Autotransformer contactor is opened. When a stop procedure is commanded, the closed contactors are automatically opened.

4- 1 GSM communication - Connection preliminary o perations

1) Serial cable connection The controller is equipped with a TE2010 GSM system easy to use. You can easily connect the GSM modem through a serial cable male-female. This cable consists of two connectors, a female connector for the TE2010 (A) and a male connector for GSM side (B). Connect the cable (male connector) at the GSM as shown in the picture: On the TE2010, remove the protection (C) of the serial port on the back of the board, then connect the serial cable.

2) Antenna connection Connect the antenna to the GSM modem as shown. When the antenna connector is fixed to the antenna and free from barriers you should have a good signal quality. This antenna has a magnetic base that allows it to be attached to metal supports without tools. 3) Supply connection Connect the supply cable as shown in the picture: The other side of the supply cable is composed by four wires. You have to connect the black and the brown together to the battery negative, and the green and the blue together to the battery positive.

4) SIM card settings

a) Insert the SIM card inside a mobile phone b) Turn on the phone and if asked the PIN code:

1) Enter parameters in the "security" of the phone, then disable the option to request a PIN. 2) Turn off your phone then turn on again, should not require a PIN. Otherwise, go back into security menu and try

again. VERY IMPORTANT! The PIN code request must be disabled. c) Inside the phone book, you must set the first and second number as the numbers you want to enable to

communicate with the controller. Cancel all the numbers then set your two desired numbers. Remember to set the the complete number (with +39 for Italy for example, depending on your location). Once every operation has been done, remove the SIM card from the mobile-phone and insert it in the GSM modem as shown below. The direction of the inserction must be the same of the illustration, otherwise the SIM card is not detected.

5) Settings on the controller To enable the GSM communication, you have to activate it in the GSM menu of the controller (see menu 3-2.5). Setting to ON that parameter, you enable the communication. At the end of the operations, disconnect and re-connect the battery to the board and to the modem

6) LED diagnosis When you power up the GSM modem, the LED flashes to show that it is running. Also, after switching on: - For a few seconds, it blinks slowly every 1 second: normal condition of pre-operation - After a few seconds after supply, it starts flashing every 2-3 seconds: normal condition, operation enabled - If it continues to blink slowly, something may be wrong. Possible causes:

- SIM card not included - PIN is not disabled - GSM signal absent or very low, try to change the place where the antenna is located

7) Final controls If the modem has been set correctly, connect the battery to the controller and turn-on the board. Check the GSM page (see menu 2-3.10): after few seconds you should see the OK symbol and the two numbers set in the phone-book. If the OK symbol is replaced by an alarm icon it means that something is wrong or the connection is down. The 2 numbers are enabled to send messages to ask informations and receive the messages in case of alarm.
