Digital Out Sound that has been converted into numerical values. Digital sound si available when you use the digital

coaxial cable. It send audio through multiple channels, instead of just two channels as analog does.

Dolby Digital A surround sound system developed by Dolby Laboratories capable of delivering up to 5.1 discrete channels

    DTS Digital Theater System

This is a surround sound system, but it is different from Dolby Digital. The formats were developed by

    different companies.

Delay The time difference between a sonic event and its perception at the listening position (sound traveling

through space is delayed according to the distance it travels). People perceive spaciousness by the delay

between the arrival of direct and reflected sound (larger spaces cause longer delays).

    PCM Pulse Code Modulation

A way to convert sound or analog information to binary information (0s and 1s) by taking samples of the

every other digital audio format. It can sometimes be found on DVD-Video.
