Function
The thermostat
The two temperatures Sinand S
outhave their own thermostat
function with belonging differential. Not until both thermostatscall for cold temperatures will refrigeration be started.The setting of the two thermostats is based on the followingprinciple:- The S
inthermostat is set so low that it will always call for
refrigeration when the night lid is off- S
outis set, so that it will be the controlling thermostat
- When the night lid is put on, the Sintemperature will fall and
form part of the regulation- If the refrigerating system works with a higher suction
pressure during the night, the Sout
thermostat will all the timecall for cold, and accordingly the Sin thermostat will be thecontrolling thermostat.
Coordinated defrostCoordinated defrost can be carried out in two ways. Eitherwith cable connections between the controllers or via datacommunication.
Wire connections (extended controller only)One of the controllers is defined as main controller, and aclock module may be mounted in it, if required. The othercontrollers are defined as secondary controllers.The main controller can now start a defrost of all controllerssimultaneously. The individual controllers will carry out thedefrost and then go in waiting position until all controllers
have concluded the defrost. The main controller will subse-quently release all controllers to normal regulation.
Defrost via data communicationAll controllers are fitted with a data communication moduleand via the override function from a gateway the defrost canbe coordinated.
Extra options
If it is required that the temperature has to be shown on therefrigeration appliance, a display can be mounted. This
display will show the same values that are shown on thecontrollers display, but it contains no buttons for operation.
The controller can be mounted at a later date with one plug
module, if required by the application.
The controller is prepared with a plug so that the modulejust has to be pushed in.- If it is required that the periodic defrost may be changed so
that defrost can be performed at specific times of the day,a clock module may be mounted. It will then be possible to
set up to six defrost times per day and night.
The module is provided with battery backup.
- If it is required that operation is to take place from a PC, adata communication module must be placed in the

Light-emitting diodes (LED) on front panelThere are LEDs on the front panel which will light up whenthe belonging relay is activated.The LEDs will flash, if there is an error in the regulation.In this situation you can upload the error code on the displayand cancel the alarm by giving the uppermost button a briefpush.
DisplayThe values will be shown with three digits, and with a settingyou can determine whether the temperature are to be shownin C or in F.
Operation
The buttonsWhen you want to change a setting, the two buttons will giveyou a higher or lower value depending on the button you arepushing. But before you change the value, you must have
access to the menu. You obtain this by pushing the upperbutton for a couple of seconds - you will then enter thecolumn with parameter codes. Find the parameter code youwant to change and push the two buttons simultaneously.When you have changed the value, save the new value byonce more pushing the two buttons simultaneously.

Examples
Example of menu display
If you want to know more about operation of controllers viaPC, you may order additional literature.
This page contains a description of a few of the possibilitiesyou will have when the controller is provided with datacommunication.
Each controller is providedwith a plug-in module typeEKA 171.
The controllers are thenconnected to a two-corecable.
Up to 60 controllers maybe connected to onecable.
This cable is also connectedto a gateway type AKA 243.
This gateway will now controlthe communication to andfrom the controllers.
It will collect temperaturevalues and it will receivealarms. When there is analarm the alarm relay will be
activated for two minutes.
The gateway can now beconnected to a modem.
When an alarm occurs fromone of the controllers, thegateway will - via the modem- make a phone call to theservice company.
At the service company amodem, gateway and PCwith system software typeAKM have been installed.
All the controllersfunctionscan now be operated fromthe various menu displays.
The programme will forexample upload all the
collected temperature valuesonce a day.
Measurements are shownat one side and settings atthe other.
You will also be able to seethe parameter names ofthe functions on page 4-9.
With a simple change-overthe values can also beshown in a trend diagram.
If you wish to check earliertemperature measure-ments, you can see themin the log collection.
AlarmsIf the controller is extendedwith data communication, itwill be possible to define theimportance of the transmit-ted alarms.The importance is definedwith the setting: 1, 2, 3 or 0.When the alarm then arisesat some time, it will result inone of the following activi-ties:
1 = AlarmThe alarm message is sentoff with alarm status 1. Thismeans that the gateway withaddress 125 in the systemwill have its alarm relayoutput activated for twominutes. Later, when thealarm ceases, the alarm textwill be retransmitted, butnow with status value 0.
2 = MessageThe alarm text is transmittedwith status value 2. Later,when the messagelapses,the alarm text isretransmitted, but now withstatus value 0.
3 = AlarmAs 1, but the mastergateways relay output is notactivated.
0 = Suppressed informationThe alarm text is stopped atthe controller. It is transmit-ted nowhere.

Night lid on or offThe controller uses the function to indicate either the S
out
temperature (night lid off) or the Sintemperature where it also
uses other alarm limits (night lid on).
The situation is either determined by a contact function on theDI input or by the interaction between the two thermostatfunctions.- If S
inconstantly calls for refrigeration and S
outis the thermo-
stat that cuts in and out, the night lid is off.- If S
inparticipates in the thermostatic control together with
Sout
, the night lid has been put on.
Temperature alarmsThere are min. and max. limits for both the S
intemperature
and Sout
temperature. The values for Sincan be displaced
when the regulation registers that the night lid has been puton, or if a signal is received at the DI-input and this input hasbeen defined for setting 3.
How to set the controller1. Set the S
outthermostat to the expected temperature
2. Set Sinto the same temperature or a little higher, so that
this thermostat will not cut out3. Wait for the temperature to fall, and the S
outthermostat will
cut out and in4. Measure the S
intemperature (the product temperature will
be a couple of degrees lower than the Sin temperature)5. If the S
intemperature is satisfactory, proceed to the next
point. If not, change the setting of the Sout
thermostat andrepeat the above procedure
6. When the setting of the Sout
thermostat has been completed
the Sinthermostat can be set.
Note the Sintemperature: it will fluctuate a couple of
degrees depending on when the Sout
thermostat cuts in andout. Register the lowest S
intemperature.
Set the Sinreference so that the reference plus the Sindifferential will be one degree lower than the lowest Sin
temperature. (The Sindifferential is normally smaller than
the Sout
differential).The S
inreference must be set higher than the highest S
out
temperature.
If you cannot start the controllerCheck:- that the sensors used are of the same type as the ones set
in O06- the S
inthermostats setting
- the operating status of the controller
