Deputy Principal’s Message

Our 2017 Band Camp has again been a resounding success due to the

organisational skills of Virginia Esparraga, Penny Coucill, Band Coordinator Nicole

McNicol and the team of dedicated and supportive parents. Thank you also to the teachers for supporting the band program. All children spent time working intensively with Penny Coucill, special guest conductor Sarah Shaw and their tutors. There were lots of smiles and laughter in the afternoon as children mastered the high and low ropes courses, clambered up walls and flew down the flying fox. We are fortunate to have such great parents, teachers and music tutors working together to ensure the best possible learning experiences for all

children at Manly West. Thank you to Mr Perks and parents for transporting the instruments and other musical equipment.

Band News

THANK YOU to everyone for a highly successful band camp. All of the children had 4 hours of intensive musical tuition with Penny and the tutors on each day, followed by some

fun activities such as canoeing, doing archery, flying fox, rock climbing and ropes courses. All musical pieces were greatly improved and some new ones learnt, and with the Pittwater Musical Festival just around the corner you will all be able to enjoy their hard

work. Band Camp would not run smoothly without the help of many people. I would firstly like to thank the children who behaved beautifully and listened carefully to instructions whilst still having a great time. Thanks to parents for getting your children to camp with everything they needed. To all of

our wonderful Band Camp volunteers - to those behind the scenes, people transporting instruments, moving chairs, helping with activities and at school, thank you so much - the event would not run without all of you. Also to the wonderful teachers who come to Band Camp - thanks for looking after the children and having such enthusiasm for the music program. Thanks to all of the Office Staff at Manly

West for their help and to Phil for transporting the music

stands to and from the venue. And finally to Penny and the tutors - our Music Program is outstanding because of all of the effort you put into our children.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE. Kind regards Nicole Macnicol Manly West Bands Coordinator
