Message..Message..

• The message in the film is questioning love.

• This film is saying that these two cities, New York and Sydney, are famous, loved cities. But it is asking, what is it that people love? Is it the people or the place? Because there are people suffering everywhere in these cities and people notice them, but turn a blind eye.

• This film shows that everyone is their equal and that they should be helped and cared for, just like everyone else.

Camera technique..Camera technique..

• Throughout the film, there is extreme close-up shots of writing on posters, signs, billboards, roads, etc.

• They take one word or phrase from each source and put it together with another to put across their message.

• To do this they do not just use actions, they use words, and they are the most dominant.

• In between the sentences, there are long/mid shots of the world passing by, getting on with their everyday lives, not even noticing the man sitting on the floor; that is his everyday life. This shot is very effective as it shows them and him, emphasising the difference in importance and stature.

• There are then numerous close-up/mid shots of other people in need, and all the people just walking by. Such as; homeless people, elderly people, etc.

• These shots are filmed at the level of the suffering, showing how intimidating and isolated their life is looking up at the passers by all day. The camera is being ignored by the passers by, just like the homeless person it is positioned next to.

• It shows what a big and scary place it is for one single person on their own.

Camera technique..Camera technique..

• There is then a few consecutive close-up shots of possibly homeless peoples faces, showing isolation and the sense of being lost.

• This is followed by an extreme close-up of one’s eyes, showing sadness and pain. These shots, back up the words, they portray the message through images and proof of their truth.

• The film nears its end with a long shot showing a young man, assisting the elderly man we saw earlier in the film looking lost. This young man is putting these words into actions.

Sound..Sound..

• There is only non-diegetic sound in this film; music.• The beat of the music is the centre of the film, the

images caught on the camera are displayed to the beat of the music.

• It fits perfectly with the mood and feel of the film, illustrating sadness but also hope and happiness when the audience see the words “I walk by you today, I did not look away” followed by “no different to me”.

• The music shows a difference in mood but also conveys the difference that those words on the screen have made. People are already making a difference.

Mise-en-scene..Mise-en-scene..

• This film is a very natural film, nothing was staged and therefore the mise-en-scene conveys this.

• People are dressed in their everyday clothes, in their usual locations, doing their everyday tasks.

• This does however show how powerful costume can be. Although the people are in their own clothing, it shows superiority and stature over the homeless people and the elderly.

• The film is set in these locations to show the real happenings in the world and to show the audience the truth as well as guiding them on how they can help and make a difference.

Editing..Editing..

• The film is edited perfectly to fit with the music. Each time a new word is shown, it is fitted with each beat of the music.

• The shots of action are very slow paced, still and smooth. They continue, emphasising the world passing by their lack of movement and they are edited together to continue this message.
