Monday January 4, 2021 4 DISTRICTS STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri awarded the 'best construction award' through video conferencing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to an elderly couple resident of Jammu and Kashmir's Bhadarwah town. The awardee was joined by DDC Doda Dr Sagar Dattaray Doifode, Executive Officer BMC (Bhadarwah Municipal Committee) Yusaf- Ul-Umar and other officials, at the mini secretariat Doda. During the video-confer- ence, PM Modi talked about the scheme that started in June 2015 and the number of beneficiaries from poor and middle-class urban families. Out of total 88 beneficiar- ies selected for the best con- struction award from the country, three belonged to UT of Jammu and Kashmir including one each from Samba, Ramgarh and Bhadarwah. From Ward 10 of Tharra Mohalla of Bhadarwah town elected for the award is Abdul Latief Ganai (65), who use to work at a small cloth shop had a severe slip disc, due to which he remained bed ridden for 15 years and became bankrupt. "Due my prolonged illness, I have to sell everything I had and lived in one room with my wife and two sons," said Abdul Latief Ganai (65). While expressing his grati- tude to the Prime Minister, Ganai said that PMAY scheme came as a blessing in disguise for my family as today we are living in our own pucca house and also have been awarded for the best construction by the Prime Minister himself. His 24 years-old son Nadeem Latief, who recently completed his post gradua- tion in history also joined his father at Doda during the Prime Minister's video con- ference and felt elated while his father's name was being announced for the best con- struction award. "We have seen very diffi- cult times as for years me and my brother use to spend nights with our cousins or friends place as we have only one room, but now we have our own roof for which we are thankful to the honorable Prime Minister," said Nadeem Latief son of Latief Ganai. EO Muncipal Committee Bhadarwah while appreciat- ing the efforts of awarded family said that they con- structed the house as per guidelines and today they have been awarded for their honesty and dedication which is matter of pride for us as well. "I hope all the beneficiaries will get inspiration from Latief as in Bhadarwah town a total of 330 homes have been sanctioned under PMAY Urban, out of which 200 are under construction and 47 have been already completed," said Yusaf-Ul- Umar, EO BMC. Under the EWS (Economically weaker Sections) scheme, each bene- ficiary is given a grant of Rs 1.66 lakh to build his/her house. STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Poonch Police in the year 2020 achieved suc- cess on its Anti terror front as well as against people involved in smuggling of narcotics with ten hideouts have been busted during the year 2020 and twenty four cases have been registered under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in the district besides one hundred and nine cases against people involved in violation of lockdown imposed in wake of Corona Virus pandemic. Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Ramesh Angral issued a statement sharing details of success for police during the year 2020 that ended two days ago. SSP said that Poonch police team headed by territorial supervisory officers including Additional SP Khalid Amin, Deputy SP Headquarters Poonch, Deputy SP PC (Operations), SDPO Mendhar, Deputy SP DAR, Deputy SP Surankote and Deputy SP Chakan Da Bagh and all the SHOs and Police Post Incharges worked on dif- ferent fronts of policing with imposition of restrictions under COVID19 lockdown and action on anti militancy front were prime. He informed that a total of ten militant hideouts have been busted during joint oper- ations by police, army and other security forces in 2020 with a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from these and this include 13 rifles of AK series, 31 Magazines of AK rifles, 1595 bullets of AK rifles, 12 Pistols, 16 Pistol Magazines, 190 Pistol rounds, 01 PKM gun, 25 Hand Grenades, 03 Wireless Sets, 02 Binoculars, 02 AGL grenades, 05 UBGL grenades, 01 UBGL gun, 500 grams of RDX and 06 Chinese Grenades. SSP said that a major anti militancy operation was car- ried out by police and army at Chatapani on Mughal Road on 13 December in which two Pakistani militants were elim- inated whereas one militant associate was arrested from the spot whereas six militant associates have been arrested in total in previous year. He also said that in the last week of December last year, a militancy module have been busted in Mendhar wherein three militant associates have been arrested with eight grenades, two pistols and ammunition with these associ- ates were planning to attack some religious places in the area. SSP also said that police also carried out stern action over the menace of smuggling of narcotics and drugs with twenty eight person have been arrested in twenty four cases and 12.472 KGs of Heroine, 60.150 KGs of poppy straw, 4 KGs of poppy follower, 334 Grams of Charas and 430 Tramadol capsules have been recovered from their posses- sion. Similarly, police also worked tirelessly in implementation of COVID19 lockdown with 107 FIRs have been registered across the district against 193 violators with 152 vehicles and 29 shops were seized whereas fine to the tune of 2,25,610 rupees have been realised from 988 violators who have been fined. SSP also discussed about dozens of PCPG meetings organised across the district besides numerous sports events. Terming maintenance of law and order in the district as a prime priority of police, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said that stern action has been taken against seven person for anti national and communal remarks on social media plat- forms which were having potentially to disturb law and order but their act was promptly followed and cogni- sance action was taken. In a statement issued here, Apni Party Provincial President and Former Minister Manjit Singh announced the OBC and SC Committees of Apni Party in Samba district on the recom- mendation of State Coordinator OBC Madan Lal Chalotra and State Coordinator SC Bodh Raj Bhagat. These committees were constituted with the consul- tation and approval of Party President Altaf Bukhari. Bishan Das Verma has been appointed as District President OBC of Apni Party in Samba District, Krishan Lal has been appointed as Vice President OBC, Kewal Krishan Prajapati has been appoint- ed as Secretary OBC, and S Surjeet Singh has also been appointed as Joint Secretary OBC. Speaking on the occasion, Former Minister, and Provincial President, Manjit Singh said that they have constituted OBC and SC committees so that the neg- lected section of society can be represented by their own people. "The OBC has a long pend- ing demand of 27 % reserva- tion in J&K. However, their issues are not being addressed by the Govt. It has deprived them of their rights," said Manjit Singh. Expressing commitment, he said that "Apni Party will fight for all the people whether farmers or students or unemployed youth. We do not do discrimination with anyone. We equally treat everyone in the society." Congratulating the OBC and SC committee members, the OBC State Coordinator, Madan Lal Chalotra said that Other Backward Class community has remained neglected for decades in J&K and their representatives enjoyed power by keeping their community in poverty and unrepresented. "Time has come when the people will have to stand for themselves and there would be no scope for their further exploitation," Chalotra said. On this occasion, SC State Coordinator, Bodh Raj Bhagat said that the SC community has always been treated as vote bank by the previous Govts and the polit- ical parties have misled them with their hollow slogans. STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded at several places due to sus- pension of traffic on 270 Km Jammu-Srinagar NHW-44 after heavy snow- fall and accumulation of snow at both sides of Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal area of Ramban. According to Traffic police, the vehicular move- ment was stopped in view of slippery conditions and accumulation of snow around Jawahar Tunnel. According to advisory from Traffic headquarters, "No vehicular movement shall be allowed traffic on Jammu-Srinagar Highway(NHW-44) from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa on Monday(04/01/2021). DySP Traffic Ramban Parul Bhardwaj said that highway is blocked due snowfall and shooting stones at several places. The restoration work will be started only after improve- ment in weather. "Possibilities of highway restoration by today is very less." He appealed people to avoid journey on Jammu- Srinagar National Highway till get confirmation of it's status from control rooms. He informed that more than 800 Vehicles including HMVS and LMVs are stranded at Chanderkote, Ramban and Banihal . Beside hundreds of vehicles has been stopped at Nagrota and Udhampur areas as well. They said that Traffic authorities allowed them from Banihal but has been stopped at Jawahar Tunnel. They said that earlier authorities allowed traffic through newly constructed four-lanning Tunnel Nowgaam but now they are not allowing them with the excuse that Tunnel is not officially inaugurated. Stranded passengers are demanding that they should be allowed from new Tunnel till traffic through JT not restored. The committees were con-stituted following a meetingchaired by Apni PartyProvincial President ManjitSingh at Vijaypur in whichOBC State CoordinatorMadan Lal Chalotra andState Coordinator of SCBodh Raj Bhagat were alsopresent.

Speaking on the occasion,Former Minister, and

Provincial President, ManjitSingh said that they haveconstituted OBC and SCcommittees so that the neg-lected section of society canbe represented by their ownpeople.

"The OBC has a long pend-ing demand of 27 % reserva-tion in J&K. However, theirissues are not beingaddressed by the Govt. It hasdeprived them of theirrights," said Manjit Singh.

Expressing commitment,he said that "Apni Party willfight for all the peoplewhether farmers or studentsor unemployed youth. We donot do discrimination withanyone. We equally treateveryone in the society."

Congratulating the OBCand SC committee members,the OBC State Coordinator,Madan Lal Chalotra said

that Other Backward Classcommunity has remainedneglected for decades in J&Kand their representativesenjoyed power by keepingtheir community in povertyand unrepresented.

"Time has come when thepeople will have to stand forthemselves and there wouldbe no scope for their furtherexploitation," Chalotra said.

On this occasion, SC StateCoordinator, Bodh RajBhagat said that the SCcommunity has always beentreated as vote bank by theprevious Govts and the polit-ical parties have misled themwith their hollow slogans.

"We have constituted acommittee of SC wing andgiven them space in the partwith a hope that the commu-nity will get their issuesresolved. The Apni Partydoes not discriminate. Westand for unity and integrityof the country as well as ofJ&K," he added.

STATE TIMES NEWSRAMBAN: Hundreds ofvehicles remained strandedat several places due to sus-pension of traffic on 270Km Jammu-SrinagarNHW-44 after heavy snow-fall and accumulation ofsnow at both sides ofJawahar Tunnel in Banihalarea of Ramban.

According to Trafficpolice, the vehicular move-ment was stopped in view ofslippery conditions andaccumulation of snowaround Jawahar Tunnel.
