National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) has resources allocated and would entail coordination with major departments to implement those activities.

– Climate change Action programme under the 12th five year plan with MoEF as the nodal ministry. An allocation of 290 crores for the scheme

There is a growing recognition that Adaptation to climate Change is a part of the developmental process rather than separated from it

Climate change must take a “no-regret” approach. It emphasizes measures that should be taken regardless - even in the absence of climate change - because they contribute to the development process of the local community

– At the same time, they put community in a better position to adapt to or mitigate the effects of climate change

Rationale for Mainstreaming

Creation of new structures to implement Climate change adapatation vis a vis making use of the existing ones through Convergence

– Climate change Adaptation is not an isolated activity and hence may not have a separate plan

– Sector plans must integrate Climate change activities

– In other words the existing sector plans need to be Climate proofed

Capacities of members of District Planning committees need to be strengthened on issues related to Climate change adaptation

Additionality of climate project needs to be identified and early movers would have the advantage.
