Jalina managing functional descriptionsJalina is a practical tool for managing loop-wise functional descriptions, forming an essential part of Pöyry’s Virtual Mill concept.

Pöyry’s Virtual Mill concept offers a solution for managing a plant’s technical information throughout its life-cycle. Jalina is the tool for managing loop-wise functional descriptions as well as process descriptions. These descriptions are tailored, standardised, illustrative and easy to under-stand for all plant personnel.

Modern pulp and paper mills have a central control system, DCS. Functional descriptions are used in all phases of a mill’s life-cycle and integrated with the DCS displays. During a project they are used as a basis for DCS configuration to ensure the desired process functionality. After the project they are used as the running mill’s infor-mation source for operators, training, maintenance and future projects. Troubleshooting, design and produc-tion all benefit from the practical functional descriptions.

Jalina is a web-based tool and can be accessed from different local and remote locations. Mill personnel, engineering partners and suppliers all have the possibility to use it without any additional software. Jalina can be confi-gured for each Client’s requirements to produce functional descrip-tions according to the Client’s standards.
