EDWARD SMYTH Edward Smyth is a Director and Head of Office Management Services at CBRE with responsibility for leading the office management team and ensuring the operational and financial performance of office buildings under management. He has a particular interest in strategic facilities management and occupier trends, risk management and consulting on new office development projects. Ed is also involved in the CBRE Global Premier Properties programme, which manages a number of iconic buildings around the world. Ed has over 13 year’s experience in the real estate sector in the areas of Property Management and Investment. He started his career at Wyse Property Management and held roles at Harrington Bannon (now BNP Real Estate) and Bannon before joining CBRE. Ed is a Chartered Surveyor and holds a BSc in Valuation Surveying from DIT Bolton Street.

AUSTIN O’HARE Austin O’Hare is a Senior Asbestos Consultant and Project Manager in HBE with over 42 years in the asbestos industry. He has extensive experience over a range of industries – including a number of sites for Tesco valued at up to £13 million each. He is a member of the Institute of Demolition Engineers (MIDE) and a qualified asbestos surveyor with the Royal Society of Health. He holds a Diploma in Business Construction and a certificate in Asbestos Inspection Procedure.

HANNAH DWYERHannah is an Associate Director and Head of Research for JLL in Ireland. She is responsible for monitoring key economic and property market drivers to ensure JLL is underpinned by accurate market insight. Hannah has in-depth experience of all areas of economic and commercial property research, and has been involved in a number of high profile projects, providing research for all sector departments across the company. She also produces regular market reports for Ireland, such as Quarterly Commentaries and the JLL Property Index. Before joining JLL Ireland at the beginning of 2011, Hannah worked in Economic Consultancy in the UK, where she gained significant economic development experience, leading delivery of a wide range of projects at national, regional and local levels, for private clients and public sector agencies.

PAUL MCDOWELL Paul McDowell is an International Investment Consultant and MD of Paul McDowell Ltd. Paul joined Ganly Craigie in 1979, out of which Ganly Walters was formed in 1985. He became MD of Ganly Walters in 1988, which became part of the Knight Frank Group from 2007. Paul also acted as Head of Investment for Knight Frank Ireland. As Head of Investment, Paul focussed on Ireland, UK and European transactions. He has undertaken the disposal and acquisition of primarily Retail and Office deals, combined with strategic development advice and a knowledge of structures/funding issues.

CONOR POPEConor Pope is an award-winning journalist, author and broadcaster. As The Irish Times Consumer Affairs Correspondent he has been writing about everything from mortgage arrears and property prices to overpriced sausages and dodgy supermarket deals for more than 10 years. He frequently comes to the aid of readers wronged by businesses. He is a regular contributor on RTE radio and television, Today FM and Newstalk and TV3. He has consumer affairs slots on both the Ray Darcy Show on RTE Radio 1 and on TV3’s Seven O’Clock Show. He appeared on the only series of Celebrity Masterchef made in Ireland but after a solid start was sent home when he inexplicably added a field of lavender to an otherwise lovely dessert.

JOHN CURRAN John Curran is responsible for Risk Management and Information Security at the OSCE (The Organisation for Security cooperation Europe). Previously, John has worked in the UCD IT Services as an Information Security Officer. John has also worked in senior technology and security architecture roles in organisations such as Oracle and Vodafone, and has worked extensively in Information Risk Architecture and Management with telecommunications, public sector, technology services, and global financial services organisations over the past fifteen years.

BRODY SWEENEYBrody Sweeney founded the O’Brien’s Sandwich Bar chain in 1988, and together with his management team built the chain to nearly 350 outlets in 16 countries. In 2005 he retired from the day to day management of the business to pursue a career in politics’ and in the 2007 General Election, stood for the Dail. In 2009 he put O’Briens into examinership, restructured the business, and exited it. He is founder of the Camile Thai Kitchen Group, a small chain of Thai focussed online delivery restaurants. He is a non-executive director of An Bord Bia. He is co-founder of the Irish business charitable foundation, Connect Ethiopia. He is author of two bestselling business books Making Bread published in 2005, and Small to Tall published in 2008.
