INTRODUCTION

RaichurThermal Power Station (RTPS) is a project

sponsored by the Karnataka Power CorporationLimited . KPCL is a fully owned by the Government

of Karnataka.

Karnataka Power Corporation LTD exclusively for

power generation through hydel & thermal .

RaichurThermal Power Station is first of its kind in

Karnataka State.

ESTABLISHMENT

Raichur Thermal Power Plant is situated atShaktinagar near Deosugur village of Raichur District(on Raichur Hyderbad Highway).

The Project to construct the Thermal Power Station was

finalized in 1978 after an MOU was signed betweenKarnataka Power Corpration Limited & the Karnataka

State Electricity Board. Tata Group Company wasappointed as the consultants for the project.

Aquired area of RTPS, is 536 acres for colony.1600 acresfor power station. 1000 acres for ash handling . 128

acres for Rehabilitation centre.

The Power station at present consists of seven

units each of 210 MW generationcapacities.Each unit generating 5 million units

per day .

computerized system and sent to the laboratory

for testing. This ensures that a properly graded

coal is being used.
