MONITORINGExisting Monitoring System
DWCD had revised the reporting system under ICDS on 30.4.1990 (F.No. 1-4/90-ME dt. 30.4.1990). There was no change in the AW registers, M.O., M.O. IC/ PHC MMR, District Adviser MMR and Chief Adviser’s review report.
The prescribed reporting formats vis-à-vis previous reporting formats are as under :
AWW’s MPR/ HPR in place of AWW’s MPR/ APR CDPO’s MPR/ HPR in place of AWW’s MPR/ APR Check-list of Supervisors’s Visit (new) QPR for Special Nutrition Programme (new) QPR on Training of ICDS Functionaries (new)

Anganwadi (Village) Level AWW’s Monthly Progress Report (MPR)/ Half Yearly Progress Reports
(HPRs) have been prescribed – following details are captured : Population as per AW Survey registers Reported births and deaths of children (< 6 years) and death of
women during pregnancy/ delivery Beneficiaries of supplementary nutrition Nutritional Status of children (0-6 years) No. of children receiving pre-school education Information on Nutrition and Health Education Home visits by AWWs, Supervisors and CDPOs/ ACDPOs No. of AWCs visited by CDPO/ ACDPO/ Supervisors Joint visits of AWCs by CDPO/ ACDPO with MO and Supervisors
with ANMs/ LHVs No. of AWCs where Mahila Mandal constituted Health check-ups by ANM/ LHV/ MO No. of children referred to PHC/ CHC/ Sub-centre Immunization Status of Children and Pregnant women No. of SC/ ST beneficiaries of supplementary nutrition
AWW sends these MPR/ HPR to CDPO

Project/ Block Level CDPO’s MPR/ HPR have been prescribed. These
MPRs/ HPRs captures all the information in MPR/ HPR of AWW.
In addition, CDPO’s MPR captures information on :i) Sanctioned, in-position and vacancy position
of ICDS functionaries; ii) Various problems faced in implementation of
an ICDS Project; and iii) Project level supplies
CDPO sends these MPR/ HPR to State Directorate of ICDS directly where District Programme Office’s do not exist. In other projects, MPR/ HPR are routed through District Programme Officer. These MPR/ HPR are also received by GOI directly from CDPOs.

State Level State level block-wise consolidated MPR in Format-I &
II have been introduced (Vide Order F.No. 16-1/96-ME dt. 13.4.1999). All States have been requested to send block-wise consolidated MPR by 17th day of the following month
States have also been requested to issue necessary instructions to CDPO’s not to send the MPR/ HPR directly to GOI (vide F.No. 16.1.2004-ME dt.02.11.2004)

Proposed MIS Formats
A Sub Group under the Chairmanship of Joint Secretary (CD) have been constituted on 15.9.2004 to propose the revise formats and place the same for the Core Group.
Two meeting of Sub Group were held on 30.9.2004-1.10.2004 and 28.4.2005.
The proposed MIS formats based on the sub-group meetings was put on web page of the department and all the States were requested to send comments by 8.3.2005.
Three States i.e. Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Orissa and Uttaranchal have sent the comments

Proposed MIS Formats
Department has constituted a Core Group under the Charipersonship of Secretary (WCD) on 13.9.2004. The members of the Core Group are TA (FNB), Secretary of Orissa, Tamil Nadu, U.P., Rajasthan and Uttaranchal (F.No. 4-2/ 2004-ME dt. 13.9.2004)
The proposed MIS formats were placed before the Core group 10.8.2005. Based on the suggestions/ comments, the proposed MIS formats were again circulated to all State Secretaries on 23.9.2005 with a request to send comments by 15.10.2005.
Ten States, H.P., Chandigarh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Karnataka, U.P., T.N., West Bengal and M.P., have sent their comments/ suggestions so far
Based on the comments/ suggestions of the States, Proposed MIS Formats have been revised again

The proposed MIS capture information on :
Gender-wise, SC/ ST-wise number of beneficiaries for supplementary nutrition
No. of children exclusively breast-fed vs. no. of children completed six months during the reporting month
No. of children (0-3 years) received due dosage of immuniation vs. no. of children (0-3 years) requiring immunization (absolute no. of doses given to target group under immunization have been removed from the existing AWW’s MPR/ CDPO’s MPR)
Major reasons for infant deaths, childhood deaths and maternal deaths on annual basis
Availability of Medicine/ Pre-school kits at AWCs
Infrastructure facilities at the AWC

Difference between existing and proposed MIS Formats
The proposed MIS do not consists the obsolete items like information on use of colored strip at the AWC for nutritional status of children etc.
Position of UNICEF supplies (as UNICEF supplies has been limited to few items now)
