What are some use cases for MAP?

The most common and recommended deployment of MAP is for day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of your BICC platforms. The monitoring capabilities and admin utilities of MAP will inherently reduce the system administration and system support burden while empowering business users to focus on their day-to-day analytical work.

Use Case1: Is there any critical issue on the BI Platforms currently? Use Case2: How many open tickets are there for the platform? Use Case3: Which tickets have been open for more than 2 weeks? Use Case4: How many tickets were resolved by L2/L3 team this month? Use Case5: Who are the key business users on the platform? Use Case6: What is a 'typical' user growth rate for the platforms? Use Case 1: PROACTIVE MONITORING SYS ADMIN

Scenario (screenshots on subsequent slides) • As part of daily health check, L3 team noticed RAG status

was red for BO Platform • On further drill down on MAP, issue was mentioned as CPU

utilization was at 100% on one of Strategy Dev servers • L3 team logged onto the server, checked the utilization and

found the issue was present with tomcat service • L3 team immediately notified the active users on the server

and restarted the tomcat service • Once the service was restarted, server was back online and

the same was reflected on MAP portal as well

Strategy PROD environment was down • This was indicated on the MAP main dashboard and also on

ticker, Outages and details reports. • L3 team verified this by logging on to the portal • L3 team immediately logged onto the server, found the IBM

Cognos BI service had stopped • Once the Cognos service was started, server was back

online and the same was reflected on MAP portal as well

Use Case 3: Regular Maintenance SYS ADMIN

MAP can be used by L2/L3 teams for day to day maintenance tasks like: • Start/Stop long running or failed jobs • Delete BI objects like reports, packages, schedules which

have not been used for a long duration • Delete orphan BI objects like packages and data sources

which has not been used in any reports • Validate reports and packages • Test data source connections • Migrate reports and folders across environments • Clone user capabilities across environments
