Target Participation & Media Exposure

• The activity is targeted for mainly Malakoff staff, MCB’s corporate clients,

Wirazone customers and selected public volunteers.

• The targeted number of divers will be 60 divers and 40 non divers. Total

estimated group strength would be 100 pax.

• For MCB corporate clients, Wirazone customers and selected volunteers,

there will be a sponsorship drive and seats will be allocated according to

• Sponsorship should cover only their cost of travelling, food and lodging.

• We propose to invite media coverage from TV3 or Astro to cover the

whole activity. This should give a good media exposure on the

corporation’s conservation effort.

• There are currently more than 20 certified scuba divers in Malakoff.

Collaboration• Department of Marine Park Malaysia - in terms of technical advice and guidance. Taman Laut, as

the Department is commonly known, has agreed in principle to provide Malakoff with the suitablesite to undertake.

• Wirazone Sdn Bhd- as the ‘creator’ of the inaugural project in 2011. Wirazone’s involvement in thisproject, in collaboration with its parent, (Malakoff), reflects its CSR commitment as a stand-alonebusiness entity. A considerable number of volunteers and participants of this initiative will comefrom Wirazone staff and its customers.

• M-Divers – this is the unofficial club of Malakoff staff who are certified scuba divers with amembership of about 20 at present. The members of M-Divers will be actively involved in theimplementation of this Project as volunteers.

• Reef Check Malaysia (RCM)- is the proposed contractor of this Project. RCM is part of a worldwide

• Reef Check Malaysia (RCM)- is the proposed contractor of this Project. RCM is part of a worldwideReef Check network comprising 80 countries and is involved in coral rehabilitation programme.RCM has already established similar nurseries in Tioman.

• Coral Reef Ecologist- RCM will work with a coral reef ecologist from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysianamed Kee Alfian who has also assisted Reef Check in its previous similar programmes.

• Local Community- to ensure that the local community is not left out, we have made it a conditionto RCM that it shall provide contract and job opportunities to the ‘orang kampung’ in Tioman,where suitable.

• Business Partners- Malakoff business partners are also invited to participate as volunteers as wellas to become monetary donors to defray a portion of the Project’s costs.
